Nav map update price

I just got my 2011 JCW and I have the 2011 Maps. From what I am seeing on here that is the newest that just came out. I was wondering what Mini is going to charge next year to update these systems. I know now they charge $199 for their DVD based updates. Now that the new systems are updated by USB does anyone think the price will go down? I would think it would be cheaper to produce. It could be downloaded and owner installed. Any guesses?

When I ordered mine I was told that the updates would be free. I'm not sure I believe them though.

Anyone know how to even check for new updates (let alone what they cost)?

I basically asked this question earlier to no avail...

I know in your thread someone stated that that the new 2011 maps would be out in August. My map version is 2011. That guy also said that he heard the new version would allow zip code search. I don't know about your version, but mine does zipcode search.

The CIC systems need a code to unlock the map updates, after you have installed them. There are certain sites that sell the code for a cheaper price than what BMW wants.

For the CCC systems, just go to gpsunderground and read on the BMW forum... As far as I know 2012 DVDs are available for Europe but I am not sure about the US.

I am unsure what a CCC or CIC system is. The 2011 and 2012 Nav system does not have a DVD based system. The maps are stored in the head unit and are downloaded into the car by a USB plug in the glove box. They do not have a DVD drive. I have still not heard anything about getting these sytems updated. The last time I was at the dealer they had no updates.

CCC is the older DVD-based systems. CIC is the newer HDD-based system.
