R60 Rear Bonnett Stripe kit installed
Rear Bonnett Stripe kit installed
I really felt the back of my Countryman was big and plain looking like it needed something. So I ordered up the rear 'boot' stripe kit. $75. I took the car to my tint guy and had him put them on for me. What a difference. No more plain and boring thats for sure. I love how it came out!
It wasn't that cut and dry however.. I ordered the kit and pulled it out to do it myself when I realized that the car needed to be de-badged (not shown in the photo, the car on minis site has badges still. I would think it was precut to fit around. Nope.). So once I de-badged the car I completely f'd up the right stripe.. After ordering a second kit I took it to my guy and he used the second kit as well as the leftover stripe I had.. It was not as simple as I had hoped nor as cheap.. $190 later ($75 each kit and $40 for the install)and I still dont have a Cooper S badge for the back, which I would like to have..
If you get this done, make the dealer do it.. If they F it up then they pay for the second set of stripes... Learned that lesson..

It does look good no matter what you call it!
I was contemplating doing this myself to our CM4 and chickened out. Ended up calling the dealer (ordered it with Bonnet) and they are being added at the VDC. After reading this, I'm glad I decided to let them do it.

That would make sense because there are trim marks on the back of the right stripe only. I went with the better look IMO.. I bought a Cooper Works badge and I am still considering getting the "Cooper S" for the back. I am currently rocking the R60 badge I found on outmotoring.com. I really like the look..
My co-pilot wasn't happy until she saw it.. especially when I told her it took 2 kits and a professional installation :-) 17 years together, nothing should surpise her anymore..
Nope. I made sure to tell my dealer to do it right just like the picture shows it. So, they took the badge off and did the install. I liked it so much without the badge, I told them to keep it off and give it to me in case I want to put it back on someday. It looks great with or without but I have it without right now.

Mine had the bonnet stripes with the 3m cut around it, As part of the sale price, I had them order the sport stripe (bonnet, boot and sides), take off the old 3m, bonnet stripes, apply the new ones and 3m over the top of the new stripes
I'm going against the grain here, these boot stripes look odd, they don't suit the car at all, if you're going to strip the car from front to back the sport or viper style stripes on the market are the only way to go.
The CM doesn't need to look any wider, it's already pretty wide, the CM needs to look lower.
To each his own my MINI comrade. I like the look, and you don't. And, that's totally okay. For me, the stripes along with some mud flaps change the look of your car for the better. Lowering, like you mentioned, would also look good.
