I really felt the back of my Countryman was big and plain looking like it needed something. So I ordered up the rear 'boot' stripe kit. $75. I took the car to my tint guy and had him put them on for me. What a difference. No more plain and boring thats for sure. I love how it came out!
It wasn't that cut and dry however.. I ordered the kit and pulled it out to do it myself when I realized that the car needed to be de-badged (not shown in the photo, the car on minis site has badges still. I would think it was precut to fit around. Nope.). So once I de-badged the car I completely f'd up the right stripe.. After ordering a second kit I took it to my guy and he used the second kit as well as the leftover stripe I had.. It was not as simple as I had hoped nor as cheap.. $190 later ($75 each kit and $40 for the install)and I still dont have a Cooper S badge for the back, which I would like to have..
If you get this done, make the dealer do it.. If they F it up then they pay for the second set of stripes... Learned that lesson..

Pssst (sotto voce) those are 'boot' stripes. Looks good, wish my co-pilot would let me do the same on our R52.

It does look good no matter what you call it!
I was contemplating doing this myself to our CM4 and chickened out. Ended up calling the dealer (ordered it with Bonnet) and they are being added at the VDC. After reading this, I'm glad I decided to let them do it.

Lood good.
From what I've seen of the official installs, they do not remove the badge. Stripes get cut above and below.

That would make sense because there are trim marks on the back of the right stripe only. I went with the better look IMO.. I bought a Cooper Works badge and I am still considering getting the "Cooper S" for the back. I am currently rocking the R60 badge I found on outmotoring.com. I really like the look..Originally Posted by Sealy

My co-pilot wasn't happy until she saw it.. especially when I told her it took 2 kits and a professional installation :-) 17 years together, nothing should surpise her anymore..Originally Posted by Fly'n Brick

Nope. I made sure to tell my dealer to do it right just like the picture shows it. So, they took the badge off and did the install. I liked it so much without the badge, I told them to keep it off and give it to me in case I want to put it back on someday. It looks great with or without but I have it without right now.Originally Posted by Sealy

My dealer did custom black and white pinstrips for mine for 300 total (200 front and 100 back). They kinda look like the classic stripes on the coopers.

Mine had the bonnet stripes with the 3m cut around it, As part of the sale price, I had them order the sport stripe (bonnet, boot and sides), take off the old 3m, bonnet stripes, apply the new ones and 3m over the top of the new stripes

I'm going against the grain here, these boot stripes look odd, they don't suit the car at all, if you're going to strip the car from front to back the sport or viper style stripes on the market are the only way to go.

The pic doesn't even do it justice. Trust me, they look great. They actually make the CM look wider because of the placement of the stripes being on the edge of the boot. Throw on some mud flaps and you've got yourself a mean looking automobile.Originally Posted by KiwiRob

The CM doesn't need to look any wider, it's already pretty wide, the CM needs to look lower.Originally Posted by MINIFIDE

To each his own my MINI comrade. I like the look, and you don't. And, that's totally okay. For me, the stripes along with some mud flaps change the look of your car for the better. Lowering, like you mentioned, would also look good.Originally Posted by KiwiRob

Prestige mini. They have the best prices I've seen from a dealer. Found them on eBay. So far they have been fantastic. Ships very quickly and usually free.

Anyone have a pic of rear boot with viper stripes?
Opinions on stopping the stripe at the hatch vs continuing down the bumper?

Could go either way. The white one with the widely separated black stripes looks good stopped at the bottom of the hatch. The black one with the closely spaced light stripes looks good going all the way down.Originally Posted by surfwagon

I Looooove how it came out though! It's so different! If you had not messed up the first stripe, you wouldn't have that extra stripe to use thus your car would not look half as great! See? So the extra money was so worth it. Everything always works out in the end, sometimes for the better.Originally Posted by ALL4TURBO
