Stock or Not?

Bought my Cooper used and cant figure out if its stock or not... Car runs REAL strong. I keep up with my cousins Stage 2 S4 until he shifts 4th.

Just installed a boost guage today and Im seeing 15psi, is that stock psi?

Ask the seller if it's been modified?

Also most bolt-ons should be easy to find if you just look in the engine bay.

15 psi would indicate a smaller supercharger pulley. Stock boost levels are in the realm of 10-11 psi.

Use a flashlight and look at the supercharger pulley. If it is black and steel it's stock. Most aftermarket pulleys are aluminum & stainless steel and have the % of reduction and a brand name.

and if it's quicker than you like, try setting your tire pressures to about 10 pounds...

if that doesn't help I have a small lunch anchor you could tow behind the car...

Shortstack always remember power to weigh ratio..... S4 has more power but is heavier too.... S4 is turbo= (turbo lag) when he sifts to 4th by then the turbo is full spooled thats why he leaves you behind

Stock R53 MCS would be mid-15s at the track. With the 15% pulley, you might get into the 14s. Just remember, MINIs are not really 1/4 mile track cars (but it does not hurt, I still want to do that at some point). Learn to take the twisties and see how much you can leave people behind then.
