Dead-of-winter news from helix
We're busy at work during this off season (for those of us that have an off season), and have a couple of exciting things coming down the pipeline:
The GIAC Chip is actually very close to completion (really, I mean it). Garrett has done some extensive testing in California, and shown some very good torque gains (10 ft/lb increase, versus 7 for brand P, 6 for brand E, and 4 for brand S). The first version will be a simple serial flash, but ultimately, the driver will have the ability to tune their own car (high octane, race gas, valet mode, etc) with a laptop or even a home computer. It is the only ECU upgrade that completely re-writes the whole chip, not just the fueling and timing maps, which makes for greater consistency and drivability. Cars that have just the maps re-written show much less consistent numbers from run-to-run (wideband o2, torque and power numbers).
We are working with RDR on the development of a carbon fiber intake. This will have a carbon fiber heat shield and intake runner to the TB, which, unlike metal will not heat-soak the intake charge. Best of all, It will be cheaper than most intakes out there (the ones that make power). Done in two weeks.
Also from the wizards at RDR come their new larger intercooler, with greater efficiency and size than anything on the market. It will fit in the stock position, without requiring a Sawzall to install it. Despite its performance, it will also be the least expensive intercooler solution on the market.
Helix is pleased to introduce Hi-Rev Imaging, a new branch of NAM's very own DanDP's flourishing photography business. Dan has a number of packages availble for top-quality framed portraits of your MINI (or maybe you want one of you draped on the hood with a thong?
ops: ). He is a top-notch photographer, and knows all the tricks to make your car look that much better. For more information or a couple of samples of what he can do, see our website at http://www.helix13.com.
For all of you that are campaigning your cars this year in autocross, drag, or road racing, Helix can custom cut and design your number and sponsor stickers. From existing corporate logos, to numbers, to shark's teeth patterns for the front of your race (or street) car. We can design and cut them. For more information, please don't hesitate to call us at 215 739 8800.

The first map is for the 15% as per my last conversation with Eric. Since I have the 19% pulley, he says I can run the 15% GIAC ECU until the 19% is available. Then I can upgrade no problem. I believe 15% will be first and 17% and 19% should follow VERY shortly behind.
10lbs of torque at the wheels? You kidding me?! Geez 19% pulley, UUC exhaust and now this? How much torque can one MINI have????? 40lbs+ of torque at the wheels??? I'm drooling....
Call me Eric - I'm coming to the shop!!!

As soon as I'm done dialing in my M3 I'll be paying you all a visit.
Do you guys offer "performance" packages like your competitors?
I've heard nothing but good things about you all. Looking forward to doing business with you.

Eric, please let us know when the MC version of Giac is ready! I understand it will be released some time after the MCS version.
If it comes out in time for the MINICup2 rally in March do you think you could install the GIAC (MC version) in my MINI before or after the run? Not like you had anything else to do that day huh

Yes, the carbon fiber intake runner goes to the TB, and the intake heat shield is also CF. I will have pictures and propaganda on the site very soon. Stay tuned.
