Garmin NAV - recommendation?

Just got a 2011 Cooper with Mini Connected without NAV. I was going to get a Garmin, but I can't figure out which one fits/installs the most streamlined. Can anyone recommend a good model?

P.S. Now that I have tried "Google Send to Car" function, I really wish I had gotten Mini Connected with NAV... so much simpler and seamless. My salesperson said he didn't really like the NAV because it's not touch screen and I thought he had a point. Oh well.

Some of the Garmin 1400 series have an adapter to plug in OBC and will tell you
oil pressure, water temp ETC. The adapter is $99 from amazon..Using
ProClip to mount.

CostCo has Garmin nüvi 1450LM 5" GPS w/ Lifetime Map Updates for $169.99.

They also have Garmin nüvi 1260T 3.5" GPS w/Lifetime Traffic Alerts for $89.99. Would this be too small?

I assume that I'd need a mount... any suggestion???

Or should I go with the iPhone App????

Here's my setup: Garmin 1490LMT (Amazon $149), EcoRoute HD (Shows all kinds of engine info on the 1490 (Amazone $99), then the Craven Speed Garmin mount to the Tach ($89).

Here's a crappy shot:

I have my Garmin suction cupped to the speedometer. It is attached at the ten o'clock position, so I can see the gas gage.

I have mine mounted similar to unclesam's using the Cravenspeed mount.

MINI makes a mount similar to the Cravenspeed that goes on the tach. It includes a housing to give it a little more of a finished look and includes the hardwiring parts iirc.

Over the weekend I installed the original Mini mount for the Mini Garmin that is sold by the dealers. Part number 65-90-2-181-627. The installation was not hard but took about 2 hours. I also bought the Mini / Garmin 1260 navigation from the dealer - cost (after discount) about $268 (tax included). While I like the product / size, I wish I bought the latest Garmin available - the Nuvi 3790LMT. Online cost about $400 and I believe it uses the same mount / power cable. A much better unit for a few more dollars. I have some pictures that I will try to to post in a few days (once I download them from my camera...)

Good luck.

Ron

Yep! Looks even better in person. Most people just assume the car came that way.

I was even able to use the power cable that came with the Garmin so I get my FM traffic.

Yep, that's it! When I ordered it I put in the comments that I have a widescreen GPS and needed a longer arm.
