I'm getting a new car and trading in my 07 MCS. When I go to kkb or nada to get a good look at what I expect to get from my car they don't have half the options listed that I have. How do I figure out the extra I should be adding for the unlisted options on my car. Anyone else run into this with any other type of car. This is the only time I've run into this problem.

Car dealers don't use much but auction results in one form or another to price cars. If they are going to keep and resell the car, other things factor in.

Just like anyone else, they are not going to pay more for a car than needed. If ABC car is going at auction for 10K, that is what it is worth. As far as options, most will not factor in at an auction. It is too fast paced, so adds are sometimes limited to just the major things. You always get more with fresh tires, you never get more for recent repairs.

Usual car adds are leather, sunroof, CD changer, Nav, Alloy rims and some packages. Every new option is not valued at dealer trade in.

 

Lots of options carry no value. Something like a sunroof does, though.

 

If you are trading expect to get screwed... Sell it yourself and make a lot more money.

 

Yup you have to be willing to "pay for the convenience" which could potentially be 3-4000 bucks. I am currently in the same situation.

Most dealers will just look at what is for sale around the area and compare it to that. That is what a few of the ones that I have visited have done since they will only be able to sell the trade in at whatever the market is at.

 

Every time I've traded in a car the dealer would only make and adjustement for mileage. If your driving an S, they'll offer you the KKB trade in value for an S and maybe adjust the value for transmission type and mileage. If your car is heavily loaded with options, they won't give you much for it.
