Installing nav in a brazilian Mini

Hi guys,
New member in the forum and future member of this awesome car!

Let me introduce you the problem:

Here in brazil the mini is kind of new and very expensive so to make it more simple and popular they decide to sell it as pre made custom cars. You can customize colors, mirrors etc etc but you have to select a pre set of basic functions as your model.

So we have the Salt, Pepper, Chilli for the non-S model (what i can pay). Salt is manual, Pepper is automatic and Chilli is automatic with xenon and anothers features. All of this non-S models don't have the lcd screen in the speedometer so they don't have the nav unit. Only the S comes with this unit.

So my question is: is it possible to change the speedometer for the one with the nav unit?!
Thanks a lot and great forum!

The MINI navigation system includes much more than just the screen in the speedometer. There is a separate computer, DVD reader (at least for the pre-2011 models), and control buttons and a joystick next to the gearshift. Also, the nav system includes computer interfaces to control the radio, CD player, and most of the car options such as automatic door locking. The whole center section of the dash is different. And, there is a GPS antenna on the roof.

Plus, installation would be very difficult.

Here in the US, we have had a few NAM members who looked into this idea in detail. The general feeling is that it would be less expensive to just sell your existing MINI and buy one with the factory-installed Nav. If Nav is only available on the S models in Brazil, I'd say you need to buy an S. Yes the S cars are expensive, and the Nav system is even more.

Sorry to bring you bad news.

Keith

Mini JCW Brasil

Ola

Eu tinha um Mini Cooper S 2010 e acabei de trocar por um 2011 JCW.
O carro é espetacular vale cada centavo investido, o S era muito bom e automático o JCW é excelente mas é mecanico.
A diferença do painel é gigante!!!
