R56 Cold Weather Package Mystery...
Cold Weather Package Mystery...
Have a 2011 MCS. Have the cold weather package. My SA says that this package does not come with headlamp washers even though I have the Xenon headlamps. MINIUSA.com says that the headlamp washers are standard as long as Xenons are selected. Can anyone confirm what is in the Cold Weather package when Xenons are on the car? Thanks!
So, it must be ordered as a standalone option once you select Xenons? Sorry to be so dense...
I'm pretty sure that the Cold Weather package only (and always) contains:
Heated Seats
Heated Power-fold Mirrors
Heated Washer Jets
Having Xenon's or not has no impact to the package. However, if you do have the Xenons, you can ask for the headlight jets as a no-charge option. This is a new ordering configuration on the 2011's and is kind of squirrely if you ask me. I can't remember how this was before...been a while since I ordered the 2008. I think it was standard with the Xenon option.

That's what I thought as well but it seems that I don't have headlight washers and yet I have Xenons.

From the looks of your Gallery, you indeed have Xenons & Headlight Washers, not sure what you think the Washer Jet looks like, but it is the Chrome Crescent looking thing on the left side(as you are looking at the car) of your Headlight. Need to be sure, start the car have someone or yourself stand outside the car, turn on Headlights, use your Windshield Washer and your Headlight Washer Jets should operate at the same time.

When I ordered mine I had to actually select the washer jets as an option even though it was a no cost option.......it was still an option. According to the configurator, they are only a no-cost option when the cold weather package is ordered but you still must select them.
Ok, well here's something "NEW", the Cold Weather Package only includes the Heated Powerfold Mirrors AND Heated Front Seats; with the Heated Powerfold Mirrors you also get "...heated windshield washer jets to help maintain visibility in icy conditions."
This is just as interesting, I found this on the Configurator...Retractable Headlamp Washers "(Note: No additonal charge when you order the Cold Weather Package.)" It is right beside the Xenon Headlamp option.

I agree with others who have said it is a "no cost" option that is only available for selection when Cold Weather Package and Xenon's (either stand alone or in the Sport Package) are selected. As we all know, the MINI Configurator proudly boasts over 10 million possible combinations resulting in "no two MINI's alike". Little order idiosyncracies like that are how they get to the 10 million number. Along those same lines, you have to order the Xenon's to get the Black Headlights, and you have to order Xenon's to get the Adaptive Headlights, but you can't order Black Headlights and Adaptive Headlights together. I guess it's just a British thing.
You can have mine. Unless you regularly drive in a mud bog, all the damn things do is waste a TON of washer fluid every time they go off, and make a mess of the front of the car. Someday I'll pull the fuse for the stupid things.
This was a change for 2011 cars as RJKimbell posted above. Previously, spec'ing the cold weather package would net you the headlamp washers. It's now a no-cost option, but must be selected in the build process, so long as you've ordered the cold weather package.
probably just clips of some sort. Is it that hard to fathom that they can just attach a chrome accent piece to fill the hole? Same as some cars with fog light holes in th bumper but no lenses, they just have a plug with screws or clips.
I have the washer components but they are not connected to any pump. So the headlights are the exact same as the others just not attached to any pump or source of fluid. Odd to say the least but there you go. For what it's worth my Audi had the washers and I disconnected them as they are nothing more than a great way to deplete your washer fluid.
The entire washer assembly is there, but isn't connected to anything.
The washer crescents are spring loaded to keep them retracted. The water pressure will force them out when applied by the pump. So with no pump attached, like mine, they just stay in place. I can pry them out with a tool which I did once just to see how much plumbing was in place.
Bracket
I bought my car wrecked and when it came in, there was a bracket on one of the headlights. The other headlight was completely busted. The part number is 61677282529 which is just called "bracket left" on Real OEM. I attached a picture which shows what the bracket looks like. I have already purchased the left headlight washer pump, but it does not look like the pump and the bracket will fit on there together. The pump has its own mounting pieces. Plus, the bracket that was on the car when I got it looks like it has the piece that grabs onto the chrome crescent part (looks like the washer nozzle, but it isn't). Could this be a case of headlight washer delete where the previous owner did not check off the free option on the list? Anyone else have this bracket on their car?

Here is the diagram looks like.

Do you have a better pic of the 61677282529 part ? That part shows up for 8/2010 and up models , but not for pre 8/2010 ? The washer jets show up for all of them.
I have a pic here of the left hand washer jet ( driver side ).

I can see from your pic the two of set mount holes and the front section that clips on.
Thanks

That is exactly what I have. I am just going to buy the right side bracket instead of buying the pump assembly. The high pressure pump and washer nozzle are so expensive when purchased separately and you cannot find them together unless used. My car is a 2013. Whoever selected the options must have not checked off the no-cost headlight washer option.
