removed ac...how do i wire for aftermarket fan?

Never used my ac in my car ever. Last year had a little fender bender and removed all the ac components. I had the typical low speed fan failure and now no fans at all. thankfully I only have a short drive to work. Just need info if I can wire a aftermarket fan using factory harness. using the factory temp sensor to turn it on. second would be...will the power steering fan still turn on?

You can get a replacement fan for ~$70, no sense playing with a replacement that isn't designed to work with the system.

The cooling fans are controlled by the Engine ECU, it switches the 1 OE fan at low & high speed using 2 relays and a resistor.

Checkout http://www.bmw-planet.com/diagrams/release/en/index.htm for wiring

I believe so. The fan reacts primarily to water temp - the AC is just an additional stressor which would make the fan turn on sooner than it would otherwise.

The car is sold otside the us without ac....that is why they sell a dummy pulley to replace the ac compressor....keeps the belt the same length...

problem is...the high pressure switch for the ac. if you disconnect it. fan comes on after start up and stays on. just trying to figure out if i should replace fan assembly w a aftermarket adjustable fan. or wire the harness for the high pressure switch to a toggle.
