Replacement For MINI R112 Wheels...
Alex:
I bent an R112 wheel on my 2009 JCW Clubman. As an alternative to replacing it, I was considering buying a set of aftermarket wheels. What I'm looking for is a good compromise between weight, price and strength as I'm planning on doing some track days. However, my set of R112 wheels have the silver paint or powdercoat finish (I don't exactly know what it is). It is not bare aluminum or anodized aluminum. It looks very similar to the Pure Silver body color that MINI offers. Some of the wheels on your site say that they have a silver finish, but it is impossible to tell from the images if they look similar to mine.. So, what is a good replacement for the R112?

MUST be silver as it will be one set of wheels and 2 sets of tires...
Forgot to mention, everything that is track oriented is much more expensive. If you want it for the street, you can get almost anything.

I have part of basement full of extra aftermarket stuff as these are not good enough for the track. Just did not want to see someone else waste lots of money having to replace aftermarket stuff.
For the track it is a matter of your safety and your life so I will not be cheap or buy expensive junk that does not fit.

I've done driving schools on ovals for stock cars and pavement modifieds, but nothing on a road course. At 62, I'm not interested in being Boy-Racer. Also not interested in doing a bunch of mods as the Clubman is my daily transportation (when I'm in the US). Anyway, I think my thought process is a bit different than most...

You are looking for R112 wheels? We may be able to reach an understanding! However, my target is to get this sorted by mid-June, so I'm not exactly rushing. I'm also 8,000 miles from my car and it would be hard to get anything done until I get back at the beginning of June. Anyway, I have feelers out for a silver R112, but nothing so far. If a replacement can't be found (and I can see how it might be hard to find a single R112), then I'll look at getting something else and that will free up 3 unblemished R112s and 1 bent one.

I've been a motorsports fan since the mid-50s and there are very few touring series that I haven't seen somewhere in that time. I also helped crew on a pavement modified for a while, so yes, I have some understanding of that intersection of Speed, Safety and $$$. It also helps that I am a mechanical engineer.
