spilled alcohol on mini front seat

Does anyone have any suggestions for cleaning about a fifth of wild turkey spilled on a 2009 mini front seat? I've heard you can remove the seat cover and cushion. Is this something I should take it in for? Thanks

As possible images of every stripe pass by, I'll catch my breath and suggest a good wipe down and something to absorbe or mask the aroma until it dissapates and then vow never to eat, drink or transport any open container of consumables within the confines of your MINI. Consider yourself lucky that it was Wild Turkey and not something really good like a single malt. Blood sacrifices are usually required for spilling one of those. Unless someone can illustrate step by step on how to uncover the seat, I'd leave it alone and let nature take it's course.

PS: Tho I don't care for W. T. as being more harsh than I care for, I do respect the art and craft and rue the accidental loss of any well made spirit.

Don't drink and drive Also, don't get pulled over until the smell airs out!

I spilled milk in the rear passenger foot area. Thank god for rubber mats, but I still had to scrub the hell out of it with detergent to ward off the sour milk aroma.. lesson learned, no more liquids in the MINI.

what I really need

Before I get more advice on not drinking and driving, I am the mother of the culprit 19 year old son who's friend spilled the bottle in his father's car. What I really need is to clean the seat! The son has been sent to a monastery......

If you can take the seat out, and wash (just soak/pour) distilled water through the seat, it would flush a lot out. Distilled water can't really corrode anything, though whatever it flushes out might. If you can keep electronics safe, just hose the crap out of it and dry.

Be mindful of the weight sensor in the seat and the airbag in the seat. Also if you remove the seat do not start the car and drive it around I have read it will though an airbag light that has to be dealer reset.

I'm assuming the friend was beheaded, then.
If I missed it, sorry, but are we talking cloth, leather or leatherette seats?
I use a spot bot on my cloth seats and have had great success with that. Other than that, I'd find a good detailer, by good I mean someone whose passion in life is detailing cars.
Where are you located? Someone might know a good shop to refer you to.

My son the monk

yes, beheaded, it was the only appropriate sentence..........these are synthetic seats and from what I have researched about upholstery cleaning I think HRM has the right advice about removing the seat and rinsing the cushion. I found a detailer who had the same notion and more troubleshooting savy than the BMW Mini Service people I talked to. We are taking it one step at a time and will heed the advice about the sensors and airbag. Stay tuned.

If you are anywhere near Anaheim CA, then the ONLY person to take your car to is http://www.showcarsupplies.com/default.asp

Have the friend and son pay for it .
I feel your pain, I have a 19yo son and 14yo daughter. Sometimes....

I like chemical guys interior products. This is definitely worth a try http://www.chemicalguys.com/Fabric_a..._p/cws_103.htm

Remember that its concentrated though and must be diluted.

If it's a R56 before removing the seats disconnect the battery first.
Then unscrew the bolts, before lifting up the seat make sure you look under the seat and disconnect the yellow piece from the seat. It's a little bit tricky but when you look underneath you will understand. But remember before you do any thing disconnect the battery. Or you will get a airbag error and have to get the dealer to reset it. I speak from experience the first time I took them out and didn't disconnect the battery. Off to the dealer I went....good luck with the wild turkey.
