Has anyone been able to have their MCS convenience options programmed so that one press on the key button unlocks ALL the doors (so you don't have to press the button twice)?

TIA

I don't think that's an available option. Sorry.

I have had it done.

When I hit unlock it unlocks the two passenger doors and the boot. I also have it prog'd to roll down the windows and open the sunroof if I hold down unlock on the remote.

Thanks!

I am being told by MINI USA that this isn't an available option.

Which S/W version do you have? I'm assuming these options are managed by the ECU software.

From Bangled designs to lousy customer service, it looks like BMW is self-destructing...

I think I'm back somewhere around v. 31 or v. 32 software wise (runs like butta, none of the v. 36 stumble ). My MINI is an early build 2002 Cooper S.

I have my key set so that the 1st press of the unlock button unlocks the driver's door and the fuel tank door. I press it again and the passenger side door and boot unlock. If I hold the unlock button down, the windows roll down.
911Fan was asking about skipping step 1, and going straight to step 2. DiD, is that what you have? I don't remember seeing that as an option anywhere. :???:

911Fan,
Yes, you can program the key fob as you want. One of the fellows ("plugot" on NAM) in our Classic group purchase had his MCS done that way; and had I known you could, I would have too. Pushing the botton twice is a pain, but some feel that it's a safety issue (so no "bad person" sneaks into your passenger side door when you're alone at night)

MINI doesn't list this option in the Driver's Manual, but it can be done (on BMW's as well)

One thing that we also did was disable the automatic locking (when the car gets to 10 mph) on our MCS; but the dealer was not able to do this again on any other 04's, so there are some issues if yiu want to do that too.

Take a look at this thread that posted earlier:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...mp;topic=21184
for a complete list of programmable features.

Gotta love the '02

1) yes, I skip the first step and everything unlocks with one press doors, boot, gas cap.

2) The automatic locking at drive off can be programmed and unprogrammed. I did just that with my '02: no locks on drive off, changed to locking on drive off, changed back to staying unlocked on drive off.

I left it this way not because of "bad people", but because 95% of the time I'm the only one getting in the car. I figured it would save the passenger door and boot lock mechanisms literally thousands of lock/unlock cycles, so why not save the wear and tear on them?

Just another viewpoint.

Charlie,

I have been unable to get either of these options programmed on my 04 MCS. I don't like the automatic locking/unlocking behavior and having to push the button twice to unlock the car is a constant annoyance.

I don't know what the big deal is with programming the convenience options. Since EVERY customer expects to customize these, it should be a straight forward procedure with little drama. But it has become apparent to me that there is no standard list of options or programming procedures -- every dealer is "winging it".

If I owned any BMW stocks, I'd sell them.
