Cost of custom steering wheel wrapping?

Has anybody had this done?

Any recommendations for a good shop for this?

How much does it tend to cost for something like the R56 wheel?

dsc201knoc posted a link to the facebook page for his business. He has some custom steering wheels that look like they were done nice.

I was wondering about dsc201knoc - he uses the term "restitching" so I'm not sure if he's actually re-wrapping the wheel. The FB page you linked has pretty much the same info as the forum posts.

I PMed a few days ago to ask and never got a reply...

He just went off to a hospital rotation of some sort. Perhaps a residency? In any case he did mention he'd be MIA for a bit.

I am myself wondering if I should just put up and buy the JCW wheel. I miss a good thick wheel and it's a cryin shame that the JCW car comes with a stock wheel.

$475 is far too much for me to spend on what amounts to aesthetics; in my case, I just want to add a little more color to the interior. I don't really mind the feel of the wheel otherwise.

I've found one custom shop who quoted me $279, which is a bit more reasonable. I'm still waiting on a few other places to get back to me...

That being said, I wonder if my dealer has a JCW wheel in stock that I could hold and see what the difference feels like...

Got another set of quotes from another shop for a few different options:

$349 - leather with suede in OEM Works pattern
$349 - Black leather with contrasting baseball stitching configured just like OEM with front seam, etc.
$250 - Black leather in a 4 seam pattern with contrasting baseball stitching
$299 - X-stitch with contrasting thread
add $50 - 12 O'clock indicator
add $50 - padding to make the wheel slightly thicker, but is not possible with factory front seam
