all 2011 minis to get pandora?

I just got a facebook msg from the local dealer with a link (sorry the link is broken) But the title says it all.

Does anyone know about this? motoringfile doesnt have anything on this. i take it it would have to be updated for the few of us that have 2011's without the app if this is true.?

BTW: i dont have connected

As far as I know, you can only get Pandora if you have MINI connected. I have the app on my phone so I'm going to see if I can figure out how to use it that way.

I read that the 2011's will all get Pandora. I am pretty sure that it's a music service, similar to Sirius, that streams music to you based on your previous listening history. If you have a smart phone, you can get the app. I've never bothered with it because I have read a lot of negative reviews in the iTunes app store. . . I just stick with Sirius.

internet radio.

which is pointless, I end up skipping tons of songs because what it suggest I might like is trash, and it never learns.

Pandora is not like Sirius. Sirius is internet radio. They have channels that you listen to but they program the music. Its based on genre.

Pandora is streaming music based on bands or artists that you like to listen to. So its more specific. If you don't like a band or song they choose, you rate it and they don't play it again on that channel. At least that's what its supposed to do.

Where did you read that all 2011's are getting Pandora? I haven't seen that.

sekhmet101: that's what I was trying to say, but you stated it more clearly. I cannot recall where I read it. Perhaps in my MC2 magazine.

I have a 2011 and I haven't found Pandora on mine. Maybe I just haven't found it yet.

let me further clarify this.

Sirius is more music to listen to when comparing to regular radio. BUT IT COSTS MONEY (yearly fee)

Pandora is internet streaming music. so u can listen to anything you want through their website. with this YOU NEED MINI CONNECTED, THEN BE HOOK UP WITH YOUR IPHONE ***WITH A DATA PLAN***...music will be played through the Pandora Application ***can be download on itunes store for free***

so as long as u got an iphone or any phone for that matter with internet connection ***DATA PLAN***, u can listen to what ever u want on the internet NOT just pandora.

with Sirius you need a yearly subscription from Sirius to listen to satelite radio

hope this helps :D

Let me also clarify that Pandora is only free for the first 40 hours per month. If you go above that, they charge you as well. I believe its 99 cents for the rest of that month. Or you can pay $36 to upgrade to Pandora One with unlimited listening for a year. I wonder how this all works with MINI Connected.

I didn't realize it either until the music cut out on me one day. That's when I saw the info about charging and how many free hours you get. If you go on their website, it's on there.

i keep getting conflicting stories. one from the dealer that posted that and another from the dealer i purchased my mini from. one says the all will and the other says just connected gets it (which i think we all knew)

Personally i love pandora, it always plays exactly what i like. The trick to getting pandora to nail exactly what you like is logging into your account and adding a couple more artist's in your particular genre/playlist. and once you do that you just thumbs down what you dont like and it learns pretty quick.

it seems like it would be a fairly simple thing to add to minis w/o connected. I have also heard rumors that all 2011 bluetooth minis will be getting an update for a2dp Bluetooth streaming! which would be awesome because i could just stream Pandora or whatever from my phone without having to connect it.

First thing im gonna say for all the people with mini connected. download MOG. its $10 a month but worth every penny and some. you can download unlimited songs and albums on your iphone or download them right on your connect. Cheapest way to download music straight off your iphone. or straight off your connect

Great example i dont understand y somebody would stick with sirius and not try a free music streaming program. sounds like somebody wont admit that better technology is taking over

Well sirius/xm are still struggling. as we move into a world of internet streaming media more and more consumers arnt listening to radio/xm/sirius anymore. I was reading an article where 40% of there revune comes from their online streaming service.

Everything is moving to a streaming type system (as you can see with smartphones and connected cars) Even XM/Sirius are claiming they will be done with sat's in the next 5-7 years and move to a 100% internet streaming system. Vehicles today are already getting the option for WI-FI & cellular connectivity and you can purchase after market radios from pioneer that basically has internet connectivity.

The person that figures out a way to broadcast Wi-Fi over the current airwaves will become an absolute billionaire.

Sure, I'll have to buy all new stuff (have XM in 3 cars).....

I have pandora on my ipod and love it. I'm not sure why the negative reviews. Much better than XM.

i think the general public is kinda pissy that Pandora now limits number of listen hours if you don't pay.

i believe before 3-4 years back, it was unlimited hours for free

FYI Pandora is unlimited hours on mobile devices. And when my free year is up with Sirrus I'm dropping it and just using Pandora
