Hoping to re-become a Mini owner soon

Well, it's been over a year since moving back to Canada and leaving my '03 MCS back in SoCal (see my thread from Jan. 2010 on trying to import the MCS).

I'm about to sell my '02 VW Eurovan Weekender for a tidy sum I plan to throw into a Mini Countryman All4 S...planning to place the order this W/E at Yaletown after driving one last W/E.
Only seen a CM once or twice around town so far.
Can anyone here offer advice on whether Yaletown can move off MSRP and how to broach that?
Also, anyone have opinions on the NAV system? Worth the cost over a TomTon or Garmin?

Cheers.
Mike.

I have a Countryman S with Navi. Bought from MINI Yaletown. Seems like Canada gets sacked with regards to the real-time traffic info on the Navi. Love MINI Connected.

I didn't bother haggling the price since I negotiated my trade instead. Kind of hard to haggle for a car that doesn't sit on the lot.

I placed my order at Yaletown for a silver with black roof All4 S on 3/26. NAV package included.
I sold my EuroVan Weekender for 23.5 k...Yaletown would have given me 17k for it as a trade-in. Even with the tax savings it wasn't going to beat the private sale. Pity since I've seen EV's in worse shape than mine on dealer lots going for close to 30k. Now been 8 weeks living vehicle-less (not hard to do here in Vancouver).

I negoiated full rubber front/back/boot matts, roof rack cross rails and roof bike carriers (~$950 retail value).

My MA emailed yesterday to state he expects arrival this week (10th week after order).
Couldn't sleep lastnight due to anticipation...
Mike.

Awesome. You'll love it. I love mine, have about 2900kms on it already and I've only seen 3 on the road so far, and I think it's the same White S with a black roof around where I work. When you get yours, can you check your NAV to see if you get real-time traffic on it?

I haven't driven to the States yet, so I don't know if we don't get it in Vancouver because it's not on the CDN model, or if it is the lack of a station broadcasting the info.

Nope. No word from the MA last week. I got curious and stopped by the Yaletown service yard on Terminal Ave on my Saturday morning bike ride. Came across two Crystal Silver w. black roof All4's...one had all my other specs so it's likely my order.
The guy at the yard said it had arrived Friday and was waiting PDI & detailing (typically 48 hrs after arrival). It looked pretty dirty all over and had a "Port of Halifax" sticker....like most of the other cars there. I wonder if this means cars are shipped overland from East coast by truck or rail?

I got word from my MA that he'll find out for me on Monday what's the final prep time.

re.: "Hoping to re-become a Mini owner soon"...

Happy to report Mission Accomplished

Picked up my Fresh Off Boat All4 yesterday. She's a sweet Crystal Silver w. Black roof.

On the ride into work this morning I came along side an all white CM S (didn't see if an All4). These cars are still pretty rare in Vancouver region.

Regarding Youthinasia's Real Time Traffic in SatNav...mine definitely does not have traffic...no menu's for it where the user guide shows them. Though, the dealer rep stated this can be achieved using the iPhone data plan and some kind of plugin. I don't have an iPhone, so not something I'm following up on.

Enjoy the Ride...

Not true. I have an iPhone and the right cable. Definitely not an iPhone functionality. I asked the USDM guys and they have it, no data plans required, no iPhone required. I think the CDN models don't have it most likely.

I think I see that same White one too around Burnaby, around Lougheed and Willingdon.

Enjoy it! It's a sweet car regardless!
