The BMW X3 spare donut in size 135/90/R17 fit just perfectly. No rubbing or clearance issues even in the front, and is an almost an exact match in circumference to the OEM wheel rim/tire set up for the 17's.

The diameter is still way too much to fit in the bootwell. I measured and it is a bit over 17". Because of the brakes the wheel needs to be 17" minimum, so I've heard. I think if I decide to go runflatless I will get a setup of 5 tyres and buy one more rim from Mini. It will be that much less when time for tyres again.

I want to get one of these when I switch to non RFs!

Quick question - I am not exactly sure how the ALL4 system works- would the small difference in diameter cause any issues, not sure if the there are sensors monitoring rotation/slip

Thanks

Mike

Since the spare donut does not have the TPMS sensor - your flat indicator will be lit.

As for the ALL4, there should be no issues as long as the donut is used to get you to the nearest tire repair facility. The ALL4 is in FWD mode until you lose traction in the front - only then does the rears kick in.

Cheers,
Ken

ps: The compact spare tire for the COUNTRYMAN is available on our site here.

Donut Tire/Wheel for Countryman

Once I get my Countryman and the OEM run flats wear out I would like to replace with standard non-run flat tires. Was wondering what size donut all of you are using that have already replaced or where a good place to buy donut wheel and tire is? I will have the 18 inch 245/45/18 tires as I am getting the sport package.

I replaced my 18" run flats with non run flats before we took delivery. Not using a spare. Getting some tire slime.

Did the dealer do an even swap out or did you have to pay out of pocket for the replacements?

I only use Slime if nothing else works, get a tire plug kit, it's really easy to plug a leak.

No. Bought the tires on my own. Took the run flats home and going to sell them.
