Drivetrain Noob inquiry about getting a "tune"
Noob inquiry about getting a "tune"
What is this tuning thing all about? Do I send off my ECU to get remapped or is it something else? I've had remapping done on some motorcycles but I'd say this is a bit different. She's my daily driver but I do like to hit the twisties for about 3+ hours a week.
I'd planned on getting a sprint booster first but thought about this afterward.
Thoughts?
BTW it's a R56 6 speed S.

Go with the access port it’s your best bet all around simple and makes a great improvement, there’s lots of info about it out their but you’ll go crazy trying to read it all lol but you do gotta look, i do think it is the best investment for our cars.

Accessport is good.
Like on most cars, the accessport is a great OTS tune. Then the AP has all sorts of neat stuff other than that.
Now, not every engine is the same, so the OTS maps from the AP are fit to make all the cars it set for respond well. A dyno tune will zero everything in a lot better, but really for basic bolt ons, that isn't always necessary. A dyno tune would be good when you're changing major characteristics of the engine that the AP doesn't support. Or like I said if you really want to zero it in you could get a dyno tune (squeeze the most out of every part). But, dyno tunes can get expensive, so if that's the route you want to take, make sure you all the parts you want to throw on, throw them on and then get tuned. AP is obviously more convenient if you don't want to deal with that.
