i pulled the trigger today on my new wheels. i bought 4 rear oem lotus elise rims. they are 17x7.5 et 38. heres a pic
now i have to decide if i want 215/45/17 or 205/45/17 tires. any suggestions? also these rims are like 12 lbs a piece!

I would play it safe and go with a 215/40/17.

I opted for the 215/45/17s. Nice choice of wheels by the way!

The 215 tires, depending on what brand you select, could weigh in 2-3 pounds more than the 205 tires.
Also, go to 1010 tires on the web to see the difference in speed.

awesome. perfect fitting wheels.
i personally went with a 205, but my car is pretty low
supposedly cast ones are 21 lbs each and forged are like 15.1.... no 12 lbs lol

Shorter Overall Diameter of a 40 series compared to a 45 series tall tire will somewhat compensate for tire weight and will yield better gearing. While, 215 width will yield better grip. Bi-Winning!
