Tires: Continental DW vs Bridgestone 760 sport

Forgive me if I posted in the wrong section, I thought this would be the best place.

I also searched and didn't find any threads specific to a comparison of these two tires.

Looking at the Conti ExtremeContact DW and the Bstone 760 sport, both in a 215/45-17 size, wondering who runs these, comparison notes?

Thanks

I have not had the Conti's, but I ran the Bridgestone RE760's for awhile. They were a good tire. I recently switched to the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo and I have to say, the reviews are pretty spot on. The Hankooks grip better than the 760's in both dry and wet conditions, and are only $92 apiece. Best bang for the buck, in my opinion. Check them out!

I am going to order a set of Conti's for my JCW. $122 seams like a screaming deal for for these. They are also the lightest tires of the tires on Tirerack.
19 lbs each. Most others are 22 to 25lbs each. With a set of light weight rims
it is at least 15lbs a corner of rotating mass you would be eliminating. Rim's I am looking at are 14.2 lbs each. I need to weight my current with Run flats it could be over 20lbs per corner.

Spooled, I looked at the V12's, but lots of reports that the traction degrades quickly after 6-10K depending on your driving habits.

Island, I too noticed the weight, and the price. They're right on line with the 760's.

I have heard lots of good things about them. At that price I am thinking of getting a set to try at the track. Now I am thinging rims and tires. I really do not want to haul a set of track tires but I might be doing that. Not a bad idea to have a se toback ups. Can you fit four tires and rims in back? I thought I saw a guy do it at Thunder Hill.

Hmm...also looking at the Yoko Advid Envigor, some reading sounds like a decent UHPAS tire (I live in the NW, lots of rain).

I know I could fit 4 wheels/tires in the back of my MINI, that's one thing I love about it, people think they're small, but there's tons of usable space.

I'm running the Conti DWs now. Currently have just over 12k miles on them. So far they have been fine. Good grip wet and dry. Not much else to say at this point.

WA here to0 and a tire with excellent wet traction is a must. Dunlop RF has actually been great. Wet and Wet snow and they were fine. Even 2 hard track days and they are still great. Just a bit rounded on the edges. I had to repair a flat the rear so I will need new wheels before the next track day at Thunder Hill in April. I am now thinking wheels to and bags. I will be hauling tires it looks like.

Island, in your first post, you said you heard good things about "them", but didn't mention which tire you were referring to?

And there is no way I'll ever go back to run-flats, you couldn't pay me to =)

The Conti's. I just wish they offered a softer stickier compound. The Dunlops on my new JCW are dame good. I thought going from 17" from 16" in my JCW would be a a harsher stiffer ride. Car rides like a Caddy compared to my 10".
I was going to drop the RF on day one but I was surprised. Plan B tear them up at Thunder in 2 days on the track. The tires still ride good and are slightly worn. Probably good for a couple of more track days. I was going to sell my stock rims but may keep them now and run a track set of rims and tires. I would not buy RF again either and not for $1300 for dunlop RF's vs $500
Contis. I am thinking slicks for the track now but they are $300 a tire and do not last long either. I will give up some lap time and run street tires.

Cost is a big factor here, and I'm willing to spend up to $200/tire, but the good ones are well under that.
