I don’t know if this has been shown before, but if not you’ll be blown away. If you have seen it, it’s still worth a second look.

OH YA BBR275.

WEEEEE!! What a ride, and when he talks about the 275hp package approaching the handling limits for the suspension... I'd sure be interested in comments from the lurking driver/technicians. Wow!

That would be a great advert for a driving school,
Tatt

I bet if the BBR275 package came with lighter wheels and sticky tires, he would change his mind about reaching the limits of the car. The stock wheels and tires are just horrible, and the limits of handling could well be reached with the stock power output. It was amazing how much the difference was going back to stock wheels and tires, for a few days. Like night and day. I was scared to take corners fast because the stock tires always broke traction at high speeds. Add some springs and shocks or coilovers and a rear swaybar to the mix and you'll have a heck of a car. That would be an amazing package and the car would be a little beast - aside from the torque steer. Cheers.

Don't be silly, the price is no where near as reasonable as that!

It's £14,000, not $14,000! Ouch.

How does BBR measure their "275 BHP" if they don't believe in dynos?

I don't want to discredit anyone's power assertions, but there really needs to be some better standardization.

The whole "concept" of bhp, in almost all cirumstances, is pointless, I feel. If the info is being gathered at the wheel, why bother translating that to what the engine might be putting out? I know that is what the manufacturer's provide to us, so it does help in a relative sense I suppose... but how accurate is it? I seem to hear that it is 11 or 12% loss. Is that always the case, even if the engine is putting out, let's say 275hp? One would tend to think that such loss would increase, augment in previously known areas, and surface in new ones. Hard to say, so why speculate when you have already the most important measurement - at the wheels!!!

Heck, that's what matters. It's what we can put to the ground that makes us go faster. That's the objective here, right? Doing so entails the whole package approach. I've heard of some Subarus with 400 or so hp, but losing upwards of 40% before it gets to the wheels..

When I finally post some hp figures, they will be a the wheels, and only from the wheels - just as the dyno reported. I suppose I took this OT, I apologize...

That sounds on-topic and makes complete sense to me. By posting a graph like this, anyone can look at it, without hemming and hawing about driveline losses, dyno type, etc. and see what sort of gains a particular mod achieves:

Well on the first page they say that they dyno test.

"Our dyno tested 220 to 275 BHP engine power, and suspension conversions, are designed to suit most sane drivers requirements, now if there are any "loons" out there wishing for 'more' power we have evolutionary ideas for the Cooper S to really turn it into a blindingly fast missile! At BBR we like a challenge, try us?"

and it appears that they ARE talking about the limit of handling after suspension/tire mods.

"Transmission/Suspension/ Brake and Tyres

BBR Limited Slip differential
Optional BBR revised gear ratios
BBR PowerGrip suspension
BBR big brake conversion AP 4 pot disk calipers with fast road pads with drilled discs, and replacement S/S braided hoses (fits std 17" wheels)
BBR fitted Goodyear F1 road tyres"

And whoever asked, No I dont think your going to get BBR over here.

They have some very anti-dyno propoganda on their website:

Yeah but they are on about a Rolling Road type dyno I think. In their R&D section they have pics of the dyno they use and it's an engine dyno. Far more accurate than the rolling road version!
