My July 2003 build Cooper S was hit in the front and written off as a total.
I am considering paying the salvage fee to the insurance company, stripping it, and selling parts to whomever wants various pieces.
This post is to check interest in any of the stock parts.

The car is(was) 4 months old with only 5K miles on it.
Photos of the car, mostly of the damage versus the undamaged good parts. The rest of the car is in "as new" condition. I am going to try to get to the storage yard and take more photos of the good stuff this time, but am not sure if I can arrange to do that.

What I'm looking to hear is something like, "I'd like the seats and would be willing to pay up to $XXX for them." With this kind of information I can better decide whether it will be worth the hasstle of buying it back, stripping off parts, finding buyers, shipping parts, and collecting money. Don't ask yet how much I want for a given item as I don't know if I'm going through with this yet.

Please email me (rather than personal messaging here) if you have an interest in any parts off this vehicle. I'm guessing that I'll need to decide whether I'm going to purchase the salvage rights by 1/16/2004.

Sorry to hear about the car. If you end up parting it out I'd be interested in the multi-function steering wheel. Assuming I can retrofit it.

Bummer about the car- but I would be interested in:

the Factory Tool kit (specifically the jack- mine is busted)

the shift assembly (specifially the retainer/pivot ring)

    How much  ?

    Status update:
We are still collecting interest in parts via EMAIL at racer_tom@yahoo.com.

My friend who want the car for the complete power train will decide by Monday, 1/19/04, whether he wants to deal with the entire hassle that would be involved in parting out the car.

    pxlmxr,
I already have the tool kit with jack, since I pulled it out before the car went to the salvage storage yard. Send me an email with an offer and we can make a deal on that.

Carl, Are you still looking for a cylinder head? I have an MC 02 one with 12,000 miles on it. My understanding is that the MC and MCS heads are the same. Is that corrrect? eMail me a lawike@earthlink.net
    Thanks, Lawrence

I may be interested in the Multifunction Wheel, but don't know what is involved to make it work. If you're still doing this and are interested, email me below...

Hello everyone and thanks for the expressed interest.

I'm following up to let everyone know what is happening with my 2003 MINI that had the potential for being stripped for parts.

My friend wanted the engine, transmission, ECU, harness, and everything to transplant into and get it running in his Lotus Elise. However, all of the other little bits and pieces that people were interested in, at a few hundred dollars here and there, were not adding up substantially enough to make the adventure worthwhile.

Along the way though, I stumbled upon a fellow who has bought the entire salvaged car to repair it. So the good new is that the car will see the road again in whole, rather than scattered in pieces.

My 2004 replacement is now waiting at the factory dock for the boat to the US.

Best regards and see you next weekend at Vegas if you'll be there,
