Looking for a second set of factory wheels on Craigslist so I can keep a set of studded winter tires mounted and avoid possible damage to the beads while swapping from winter to summer & back again.

I found an ad on Craigslist for some 2003 MINI rims, but the ad doesn't say they are 17 inches, or anything about bolt patterns.

Advice from you fine people is much appreciated.

 

If you have a 2007 MINI R56 (base cooper)

Then you are fine and can use any MINI wheel from 2002 through your year.

This assumes you have the standard front brake (not JCW brake) so you can use any wheel from 15" diameter on up but for snow tires 15 and 16" are easy to work with and lighter and not as wide as stock 17" wheels.

The bolt pattern has always been 4 X 100 mm, the centerbore diameter has always been 56.15 mm, and the bolt hole diameter has always been ~16 mm. The factory wheels have always had a variety of offsets, but they're all close enough that you don't have to worry about the wheels fitting.

In mid-2006, the diameter of the factory lug bolts increased from 12 mm to 14 mm, but since the actual holes in the wheels have always been ~16 mm, the wheels from earlier cars will still work in later cars.

Depending on when in 2007 your car was built, you might have tire pressure sensors on the wheels themselves (direct TPMS), rather than the indirect TPMS that the earlier cars used. If that's the case, you might have to get a set of sensors for your winter wheels, or you could just live with a constant flat-tire warning light during the winter months.

 

I hadn't thought about TPMS. Thanks for that. I think I may be in good shape then.
