HELP needed - engine sputtering after tune!

Hi guys,

Hope someone can help me here:-

My car seems to be sputter/judder quite badly at about 1.5k to 2k RPM, it's particularly prominent when I'm slowing down in a high gear, then hitting back on the accelerator again (My car's an auto).

This problem started to happen after I got my RMW remote tune. I loaded one of the maps and (as usual to test things out), floored the throttle. The whole engine shaked like crazy, there was even smoke out of my exhaust. It was also unstable on idle.
I didn't dare drive it further so I went back after about a 5 mile drive and reloaded the stock maps.

To my dismay, the engine still judders at certain points in the RPM.
Jan was very helpful in sending me a couple of stock maps to try out, but it doesn't seem to work. He noted that the HPFP might have given out.
However, my car is not losing any power either.

- Has anyone faced similar issues after remapping?
- Other than the HPFP and boost tubes, what other potential issues should I look at?

There's aren't many mini specialist around my area and I'm out on warranty.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Cheers,
A.N

any fluctuations at idle? any codes? any funny sounds? does it go away when the car is warm?

mine sputters and jerks at low RPM from 1000-2000 after an RMW tune.

My advice would be to do a thorough carbon cleaning before trying anything else. That's what I'm going to do, as a seafoam treatment seemed to help a bit

yes, fluctuates at idle but intermittently, like every 10 second it sputters, no codes, no funny sounds, still goes on after a relatively long drive.. thanks

would that be on the modified maps? what concerns me is this is happening on my stock maps...

Yes start with a carbon cleaning. That sounds like a likely cause. If you get a code it may be more. You may also need to clean your injectors or fuel lines. How many miles on it?

You could substitute with any other fuel system cleaner like Chevron Techron or Gum Out.

UPDATE

Got my fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs and ECU reset back to normal.
Everything runs well now. Looked like the fuel pump cracked (don't know how that happened!)

Will get the remap done again by Jan. Hopefully all goes well.

Thanks for all the feedback!
