MINI link app for IPhone

I just purchased my first Iphone (4). So, I downloaded the MINI link app. I put in my CM vin, since I have it memorized, rather than the vin for my 2007. I live in Texas, but when the map came up, it was Baltimore. Now, my CM is on the Florida Highway, a K-Line ship, and due to dock in Baltimore on Feb 7. I'm thinking it's either there or close enough that the app is picking it up. Going to watch & see over the next few days. My CM unloads in Brunswick & then comes cross country to Texas.

Anyone else using MINI link want to share experiences? Tks!

How does it follow the car? I thought the app worked off the GPS in the iPhone?

Exactly. What transmits from the car? Nothing as far as I know.

false alarm!!!

Sorry, guys......not sure why it initially gave me Baltimore, but it's using the GPS now. If I was more "tech" savvy, I'd have known that was a glitch. Oh, well....the wait continues!!!

I suspect the assisted GPS of the iPhone (starts by using the available wifi before the actual GPS finds itself) was using a router/office for your in-home broadband ISP as it's location until the GPS found itself by the satellites.

My ISP (Time Warner) at my old house would always show me in Michigan (even though I was actually in California).
