Talk me into...or...out of...

I need you to help talk me into or out of a set of 17" Elbrus I04's, I think these would look pretty sweet on the Molly Car and was bummed when they were discontinued by TireRack, so now that I've run out of the 16" option my only other choice is to go with the 17's and it looks like I don't have a lot of time to make up my mind on my own. I keep debating get the 17's now and buy tires later, which is not a big deal since I won't need Tires for another 35,000mi. or so!!

Thanks in Advance...hope ya'll don't find this too stupid of a question.

Sell what you have on your car and get what you want

Doesn't help much MiniOn, do I get the 17" Elbrus Wheels now or wait for something else in 16's later?? "That is the question"

Something to think about; have you driven a Mini with 17" wheels ?

Nice looking wheels, but made in China and kinda heavy like a stock wheel.

Don't jump, just look at all the wheels out there and then choose. . . . . .

Any wheel salesman would be happy to talk you into a set of wheels. On the other hand, you could wait until you see the wheels that you definitely want. The decision would then be easy.

If you think you're going to get 35000+ out of a set of MINI tires, dream on. You will be looking at buying tires either way pretty soon. Do you want to buy 16s or 17s?
Like others before, I would suggest doing some serious research to see what you really want, rather than jumping on something just because it is limited availability.

Well, they look awesome, and fit very well.

They are heavy as bricks, and the clearcoat over the black parts WILL chip off... its only a matter of time (maybe thats why they were discontinued??)
I waxed them religiously, and cleaned them probably 3-4 times a week lol... still started chipping.

solution:

Im going to powdercoat them come summer. Was going to buy new wheels, but a hit-and-run has costed me quite a bit of money this month..

Size depends on the design... these, sure 17. 16s in the I04s look like crap. any "racing looking" wheel will look good in a 16 IMO.

Thread I made a long time ago: Any questions you have on them should be in here somewhere... take a look:

Ummm...I've got Bridgestone Potenza G 019 Grids on the Molly Car, a 50,000mi. Tire and no I don't expect to get that many miles out of them, but they do still have a lot of life left so hence the conundrum.

Another one that I have looked at that looks like the pf01s are the Konig Daylites (few more spokes)... not expensive and LIGHT. good combo there lol

Check out XXR wheels. I'm running the 518's and I love them. Pretty light and I found them for $114 each when I bought them. Check em out and I think you'll like them!

Ok Gang, thanks for all of the ideas!! I've decided to stick with the 16" Wheels since my MA on Friday @ MINI of Tempe said Molly's Tires look Brand New and their 1.5yrs. old. We drove down to the Phoenix Metro Area on Wednesday and are heading back home, started out @ 5:30am this Morning!!
