About last night...Northern VA traffic
Just wondering how other mini's faired last night with the awful gridlock. I tried leaving at 6 from tysons galleria and only made it to tysons 1 at 7 so I just hung out at a restaurant for a few hours. Left again at 11 took 20 minutes to get gas and then when all was said and done I was home by 12:20. Lots of abandoned cars especially SUVS...I didn't notice any abandoned mini's. I felt good about how my car was handling except the 50 overpass on 495 going south was absolutely awful. I definitely slid alil.
I work in Stafford and left work about 15 minuted before the snow started. Had no problems are all getting down to Fredericksburg.
The first snow big snow storm we had this year on December 16 was worse than last night for me. Took 1.5 hours to get home. Some slipping in the snow then and almost got stuck going up a hill after an SUV stopped in the road. MINI's do pretty good in the snow - much better than some of the other cars I've had.

I left work from 4pm and only made it home at...11pm...yes...insane traffic..plus there was no power in my area until couple hours ago(that led to lots of traffic lights outta power...= even more insane traffic)...
People slept at the mall...When I was leaving people we're on the benches and couches. When I left at 11ish I was getting on the 495 ramp on rt 7 and I was keeping a good distance of 3 or 4 car lengths...honestly I was scared the road wasn't clear and I've slide more than once in other cars I've owned...and this SUV was behind me and they had the nerve to be honking at me! Yeah I was going slow but seriously...he musta been in a rush to run off the road like all the other SUVs scattered around.
yea...Hate those ppl drivin in SUVs and think "man! This snow aint nothing..Ive got my huge wheeled SUV rite here...must be a piece of cake!"....yet SUVs have been the most popular getting stuck i as I've seen...LOL
I work about 6 miles from my house, a 8-10 minute commute on average.
It took me 30 minutes, mostly just avoiding other people's lack of driving skills.
All-Season Tires + FWD = WIN
