Are these real? 17" BBS RS 844 wheels

I just recently purchased a 2011 Pepper White Mini Cooper S completely standard with the black bonnet strips. Looking to purchase some wheels and a friend of a friend is selling these wheels. 17" x 7 BBS RS844. Can someone post some pictures of how these would look on the car? He said they came off a 2006 mini and has stock offset. The asking price is $650 for the wheels only and I have to drive 2 hours to pick them up. Is this a good deal and are these wheels the real thing or fake. Please give your feedback.... I need some help.

they look like stock 17x7 MINI R90s, yes. The stamping would lead me to believe the are OEM.

Good deal, not sure. If they are PERFECT I could see that price i guess

I'm a newb to this forum and I'm not really sure what I want. I was told that the wheels are in great condition and that he's willing to drop the price to $600 for the set to help me out with gas. I still would like to know if this is worth it since you said that they weigh around 24lbs? I guess that's why other BBS wheels are so expensive because of the 10-12lb weight difference...

Also what type/size tire would you recommend if I'm on a budget...

Potenza G019 Grids or something like that. really depends on your use.

205 or 215/45/17

They are a nice wheel, but yes, HEAVY.

They are one of the more expensive wheels to find as far as stockers go... So if they are in great shape I guess thats a decent price... comes down to your personal tastes.

Other one piece stock 17s can go for 400-500 usually... Check the marketplace on here and compare.

Examples of sales past i found:

Beat set for 350
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co.../15128/cat/all

really dirty set with tires for 500 (still possibly pretty rough)
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co.../15367/cat/all

excellent cond 1000
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co.../15323/cat/all

to conclude if you like the style and dont mind the weight, sounds like a decent deal if they are indeed straight and nice... the lips tend to get beat on these, since its just cleared machined aluminum

You may wan tto consider a couple of other minor issues. The 2006 wheel will be drilled for 12mm lugs. Your 2011 uses 14mm. You may have to have the wheels drilled. You will also need to be sure that the 2011 TPMS sending units will fit inside the wheels. Some of the Gen I wheels will take the new units, others won't. I haven't actually seen the 2011 sending units but i presume them to be much like the 2010s. The 2010s are different from the 2009/08/07 models. Not a big issue, but you need to be aware of it, you may find that in order to use the wheels, you will have to foregoe the tire-pressure warning system if they won't fit (Alex at tire rack may be able to tell you if they can be used. The drilling issue is something that should be left to an expert, one can make a really big mess trying to do it yourself.

But they are very nice looking wheels and they look great on a Mini.

Good luck (BTW $600 for real BBS wheels is not a bad deal at all).

That's what I have on my 2011 WS/B MCS and it looks great! Didn't have to drill anything and TPMS works just fine.

At $150 per wheel, you can do far better (both price and weight) going aftermarket. If BBS is your only goal, go for it, but there are hundreds of other options. Check tire rack and discount tire websites for possibilities. I believe both have the option of seeing how the wheels will look on your car.

Here are some pics. I am still on OEM springs so there is a wheel gap.

Very nice MINI. The White Silver is really a cool color.

So, the '11 TPMS worked on the R90's without any problems?

Thanks nics.sd! Your car looks great. How much did you pay for the tire and installation? Did you have to use the TPMS off the stock rims? Also just curious what kind of suspension system your thinking of getting. I'm a bit worried if I do anything to the suspension that it might void my warranty. I purchased the extended maintenance. Is this true or is it just modification to the motor?

I went to Tire Rack and paid $545 out the door. That included unmounting of my OEM tires to get the TPMS, balancing and everything else.

About the suspension, my local car club advised me to install a front shock tower brace before working on my springs/shocks. It's supposed to eliminate torque steer and greatly improve handling.

I have a set of refurbished R90's with tires that I bought off of craigslist for $850. They are better than new in my opinion. The middle piece is Anthracite Frosted and the outside is silver. They came with a set of Excel UHP 205/40/17 with about 80% tread.
Unfortunately, the center bore on the rims is 1mm smaller than the hub on my car
Rather than try to drill them and ruin them, or risk ruining my wheel bearings with spacers I am looking to sell them to cut my losses.
Let me know if your interested
