Fob Settings Forgotten

I have a '11 with Connected/NAV and Comfort Access.

Yesterday when I drove the car, all of the unique fob settings had been forgotten, including redio presets and turn signal preference. Today, my girlfriend's settings all worked on her fob. I have not had a chance to try my fob again to see if maybe they have come back.

Has anyone seen this before or know why it would or how it could happen? It is quite annoying.

Thanks, Pete

You may have simply used the "other" Fob, unless of course you only had one Fob to begin with. Each Fob can be programmed to be different for different users.

You have to actually UNLOCK the car using either the CA door button OR the unlock button on the FOB that you are going to use.

It is not enough to just get in the car with a different FOB, even if you start the car and drive off. Also if the engine is running it's too late.

More than once I have found myself at a stoplight quickly turning off the engine, pressing unlock on my FOB, and restarting just to get my settings.

Our problem is that we often do not lock the car in our own driveway. Not very convenient for me or especially those who park in a locked garage and have no need to lock the car at all.

It was definately my fob. Both FOBs are programmed. There were, for example, no radio presets and not my girlfriend's presets (which are different than mine).

Agreed. This is inconvenient. This isn't what happened in our case. The car forgot the settings rather than using the wrong settings.

What happens if you put the other fob in the dash socket? Will that change your settings to the desired set?

Just tried it and yes the settings will change over if you put the 'other' key in the socket cradle, however it must be done BEFORE the engine is started.

Was it a one time only deal?... or did you have to reprogram everything to your FOB? Was the battery removed from the FOB in that time? Not sure if it looses settings or not if the battery is removed?

This evening, the fob settings were back to normal. Hopefully this is a one time thing.
