Probably 95% of us will say stay away.

They are notoriously unrealiable... If its working on another car, kudos to them.

Id hate to see it all installed for you, then you lose all engine power in the middle of the freeway (ask me how I know lol). Its no fun trying to coast to the median in rush hour.

You can probably do a lot better with the new tunes out.

UniChips are fun, but any boost in power is.

Im pretty sure if its the Plug-and-play version you just plug it in and go. Depends what mods the other car had. If they are the same or close it should be just fine. For example the one I had was tuned with an intercooler supposedly.. I didnt have one, and it didnt matter.

all you can do is give it a shot

If you MUST use the Unichip ask the tuner to hardwire it for you. All the problems I experienced with it had to do with the plug n play harness. Went trouble free for 20k miles once it was hardwired.

Honestly though, there are MUCH BETTER choices out there now. Put that $400 towards the Accessport. I only used the Unichip because it was the only "tuning" choice available at the time

I know how u feel being broke, if you think the $400.00 is a good deal then definatley get it. However, like suggested, there are a lot better more reliable tunes out there. If you are close to one of the shops, most of the time it is 350-450 $

So think about it first, call some of the tuners, RMW, ALTA.

I have also heard the hardwired way works, and it should. The problem is (at least on mine) the small plug closest the firewall... With the connectors inserted between the ECU and existing plugs, it stretches the existing harness so that it is a very tight fit. I think this breaks connection on some apparently very important wires... I could kill my engine by simply pushing the connector a certain way (pretty lightly too).

My advice would be ,if you install it the plug and play way, make sure to get all the slack possible to the existing harness (cut clips, connectors, ect)

lol If you already have it, HARDWIRE IT! I would personally not drive my car with it using the plug n play harness. I cant count how many times the car would randomly shut off or lose power.

Did I hear "50"" (FIFTY) Horsepower??????

If it sounds to good to be true it usually is. 50 Horsepower with a $400.00 chip.

Well it definately isnt 50, BUT the 5lbs of boost does make a very big difference. Not sure what that sort of gain is.

Well I have the dyno runs to prove it 157 stock 207 chipped I will scan them in and show you all in the morning and yes it will be hardwired that's the only reason I would do it

Are you sure the MAF is dead? Because when I had the UniChip I know I once threw a code for the MAF sensor but after cleaning the sensor with MAF cleaner the code went away. Maybe it was the intake I had on it with oil getting on the MAF or it was the chip's connection.

Also, the 50hp gain can be possible if its crank, but 207 crank hp wouldn't be much of a gain with increased boost. Most of us see ~30whp gain which equates to about 50 crank hp with the RMW/Cobb tunes

What's with the odd scaling of the graph, the actual data only occupies 25-40% of the graph. Looks odd to me. And the huge spike at 5k is that overboost, the pressure dump, and rebulind psi or a shift or something? No data below 4k rpms either? I am no dyno expert at all but this just doesn't look like most graphs I have seen.

Yeah same thing I said when the going was doing the rune but it's an old dyno set up he has a new one coming in about 2 month and I will then have new runs to post. It is accurate crazy as it may sound and yes the spike of power need to be re mapped and worked out but the car is making power lol. Next week I m taking it to a buddy of mine to rerun the dyno on a brand new dynojet dyno I will post those numbers up too and vid of those runs. The shop I go to is very good but the guy deals with high end car and airplane manly he's one of the only guys around palm beach that I know of that work on minis and know that they are doing.
