Any suggestion for Clubman S Exhaust?

I am thinking of getting an exhaust for my clubman. I like NM-ENG exhaust but they are not 3" piping but the ALTA PERFORMANCE exhaust is 3" piping. Any suggestion and pictures of clubman s aftermarket exhaust? Thanks!

There is a thread in here about a special deal on the Magnaflow system. I installed mine almost two weeks ago and LOVE it! It was less than $600 shipped and sounds perfect. Nice growl when on the throttle, no droning, and some popping and burbling when in sport mode as you slow down.

To me, it's probably the best bang for the buck right now for a Clubman exhaust.

You can also go to a reliable and reputable muffler shop, research the design of the exhaust of your choice, and have them replicate it for you. You have more options as far as components; resonator, muffler, diameter, exhaust tips..

Got a custom exhaust system for $275.

Exhaust

If you look at the Magnaflow webpage, you can find out which muffler they use in the Clubman exhaust. I have done this on a number of cars and trucks.

Hey Turboevo2, are you looking for an improvement in performance or sound?

If better sound quality is your goal then any system will cause some change that you may or may not like. You will need to spend some time listening for the one you like best.

The problem with the performance gain thing on a Clubman S is a bit more complicated. The exhaust system is fairly free flowing in stock form. Unlike the R56 S, the R55 S has dual pipes and mufflers from the factory, this cuts back pressure down pretty low as it is. You don't really get a meaningful power gain with a cat back system. The maximum you will see is maybe 5 -7 hp at the high end of the rpm range.

I looked into this a while ago and found that if you are looking for a meaningful improvement in performance on a Clubman S you really need to look at a Turbo back system. The biggest gain with a good turbo back system comes in combination with a good "tune". The potential on this change is in the 40hp+ range. The ALTA system is one but I'm sure there are others.

Hi djdraddy, Im looking for performance first and then the sound =). I agree with what you said about R55 vs R56 gains because of the dual exhaust free flow. I think what would make a big difference is downpipe and exhaust then tune.

I used two Magnaflow mufflers.

I agree on the down pipe as well. It will give you much more of a power gain than the cat-back exhaust. I believe there are 1 or 2 downpipes other than Alta for the R55. Search this forum.

Having the 3 inch diameter in an exhaust will not give you the highest top-end power, but it will increase your low end torque by letting the turbo spool faster. And you can never have too much flow.

Where is the shop

Joey Mojo~
I am in the East Bay. What is the name of the shop where you got your exhaust? Do you have pics or video pre & post install? I have an 08 Clubbie and getting ready to start mods. Thanks

Anyone know a downpipe(preferably catless) that will mate up to the stock exhaust without cutting? I don't want a loud car, I have a camaro for that :P. I already bought the access port so I'm good for the tune and CELs.
