Service Indicator Question

I have an 09 Justa. I just noticed when I start the car, I see the red "service indicator" appear for about 3 seconds and then the regular settings display.
I forget, when no service is needed, does it show the "miles to go until service" for a few seconds at startup?

Yes it does. The top window will be orange until you start to get close to service (1k miles, not sure about time) it will turn yellow briefly. The bottom window shows you the date and the approximate miles until the next service.

The manual can take you true the sequence to find out what it need's . Mine needed brake fluid which I toped off but it still shows the "service indicator" , How do you reset it ?

The brake fluid service indicator is telling you to replace the fluid, not just top it off.

There are two separate indicators, if you do get low on brake fluid the brake warning light should appear. The service indicator is shown briefly at startup.

There is a procedure on this forum on how to reset the BMW/MINI CBS (it involves the trip reset button). But I do recommend you change the brake fluid every two years.

If you have not required service due to miles driven, then your manual states it should be serviced every year regardless of the CBS indicator.

When was it serviced last?

Here's a break summary from my 2010 manual:

Oil Change 1 Year or CBS
Brake Fluid 2 Years or CBS
Micro-Filter 2 Years
Air Filter 2 Years or Every 2nd Oil Change or CBS
Tires 6 Years
Spark Plugs 60K
Transmission Service 100K
Oxygen Sensor 120K
Coolant N/S ("Long-term rated. Change at system repairs only").
V-Belt N/S
Fuel Filter N/S
Power Steering Fluid N/S
