R56 08 Cooper S--P0441 Fault code--Purge Valve
08 Cooper S--P0441 Fault code--Purge Valve
So I have a check engine light and a pretty bad misfire. I had the code pulled and got the P0441 fault code. I checked the gas cap and seals, and everything was tight and looked good. So I'm thinking that the purge valve really is bad. The only problem is, I can not find any info on the valve (location, how to change, ect). Does anyone have any advice or info on this problem? Any help would be great.
Thanks

Just had mine replaced at an independent mechanic shop. Mine was causing repeated stalling at idle, a check engine light and a check filler cap warning (which continued even after I bought a new cap). I suggest picking up a Haynes repair manual which would give you replacement instructions.

By the way, you may want to have a look here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/. Just drill down until you find the valve, but I'll admit I wasn't able to locate it using their diagrams.

Im having this problem, code P0441, which is "Evap System Incorrect Purge Flow". I have exactly 1 month to pass emissions. I have a ScanGauge2 plugged in at all times, and can clear the code, but after doing this, the car is "not emission test ready" because all of the monitors now have to re-record all of the data needed to plug into the emissions test. I have learned this takes "3 Hot Cycles", as in, I clear the code when the engine is cold, drive a bit til it reaches standard running temp, then cool down over night, drive to bring up to running temp, cool down over night, drive to bring up to running temp, cool down over night, and after doing this, once the car reaches running temp the 4th time, even during just idle, the light will come back on. Basically what I need to know and/or do, is figure out what needs to be fixed/replaced to get rid of this code, or figure out how to pass CT emissions testing after clearing the code. The car runs fine, at times has a rough idle, but that is due to some of the other mods I've done to the car. Anybody chime in on this with some help/advice?
Manuals (or lack of same) were discussed above... since those posts, Bentley has produced a manual for the R56, so you may want to look that one up.
Cheers, and best of luck,

oops. my mistake. i have an r53. i may have posted in the wrong section. i know what the code means, and where on the car the part is located, so i doubt paying for a manual will be much help. im mainly looking to see if anyone else has had this issue and how they fixed it. thanks for the advice though.
