READ BEFORE POSTING How-To forum purpose and requests

The How To forum is a place for threads dedicated to explaining how to accomplish, tweak or modify something on your Countryman.

If there's something that you don't see a thread for in the How To forum, please post a request for it in this thread so others can check it and make it if possible. Do not start a new thread asking for a how to for something, so that when people see a thread with a particular subject they'll know that it will contain directions from the get go.

Also please note to make sure this format is maintained; all new threads in this forum do require moderator approval before the display in the forum.

Remove the oil pan plug to start draining then loosen the filter case but don't remove it. Leave it on by the last thread or so. This will allow air to be drawn in and pull the oil down into the engine.

Oil Change -- 4 questions:

1. Quanity--is it same as Gen II guys 4.4 quarts?
2. Torques -- same as Gen II guys as well?

Oil pan drain plug = 22.0 lbs/ft
Oil filter cap = 18.5 lbs/ft

3. Has anyone used / have experience with oils from http://www.renewablelube.com/motoroilsHP.htm ?
4. Has anyone found a good service manual for the Countryman?

As always, thanks for the help!

Has anyone changed out their sidescuttles? I just got mine in and doesn't have clear directions. I'm hoping I can install this myself and not have to pay at the shop.

i figured it out
once i slid the rubber insert towards the front of the car, it exposed the first screw head. it was all downhill after that!

(or should i say about a dozen screw heads downhill after that!)

Dogmasue,
I am sorry I did not see this sooner...I look mine out this past weekend. I am also having a center fill piece made in the Kent area by an interior shop that I know and trust. This will fit between the two existing seats and create a bench style seat.

Interested?

P.S. I didn't remove my rear seats to pull my rail out... That must have been a ton of work!!!

hey neal! you are popping up everywhere!
chris took the back seats out (for good, not just for the center rail removal) -- they didn't seem to be a problem.

i'll be installing custom dog crating in the rear seat area as soon as i get them designed and ordered. for now, this will have to do, but it is only good for one dog:

You're in the Countryman section of the forums, so you're not going to find anything here. What you want is the 1st Generation how-to forum here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ms/how-to-340/

Request: dash take-apart for wiring iphone mount?

I'm a lemur and didn't get the armrest/iphone snap-in. I DO have the cravenspeed mount and an extra-long extender cable and a need to thoroughly frustrate myself, apparently.

Does anyone have any hints for dash pull-apart to run the extender inside?

How to request: How to remove lower plastic grill?

How do you remove the lower plastic grille (the one in front of the intercooler)? Ideally, I'm wondering if it can be done without removing the bumper. Thanks!

If I remember correctly its part of the front bumper. You would have to cut it out you would have to remove the bumper, and it's a pain in the butt

I'd like to post a how-to on trailer wiring. I've searched high and low for good instructions for a 2011 All4, but I haven't found anything comprehensive. I finally got mine working, and I'd like to share what I did in case some other people run into the same stuff I did.

Red face Removing rear light trims

So I had a 07' Cooper and had no problem removing rear light trims, now I own a Countryman and attempted to remove the rear trims and broke some tabs and actually broke the trim at the bottom. If someone could share some pics and useful info on how to remove these would be great!

There's a thread here somewhere with directions on removing the rear trim. I'll see if I can find it.
