Help! shake/rattle/odd noise on startup/shut off

Hello,

recently my car has started shaking as soon as it starts. and then is shakes a bit as soon as it shuts off after i press the of button. not sure why/what happened, it seems like it is almost as if the engine is loose, and the force/vibration from starting/stopping the engine is shaking the car? this is different than the "cold start issue", dealt with that a while ago.

the same noise also occurs fairly randomly while driving, but mostly when it involves increasing/decreasing load on the engine, like shifting etc.

any ideas? my only guess is it sounds and feels as if something is loose, but i am not at all qualified to make that guess. the car is 100% stock.

If your Mini is still under warranty, I would talk to your dealer. It could be a bad engine mount, but I am just guessing. I hope you find the problem .

Your car may have some warranty time left on it, if you have less than 50k miles you should be able to have the problem fixed for free.

yeah i am still in warranty, called and checked. will probably bring it in the dealer later today or tomorrow. any ideas for what it could be? hopefully it is not too major. still seems like it just shakes when i turn it on/off, and makes a similar noise randomly while driving.

deciding i am too picky until warmer weather arrives, this along with other interior noises could just be the seals etc shrinking in cold weather. its very minor, i had someone else who is "good" with engines start and stop it and i had to point it out. i care too much about my car :D
