Pulley/Belt question

The car is a 03 MCS with 33k
I recently purchased a new 15% pulley and shorter belt.
At the beginning of the week the car started making what seemed to be a belt noise, and trying to find a temporary fix i sprayed belt dressing on it and that eliminated the noise instantly. The next day when i went to start the car it did the same thing, and the same with the next day.
I figured this is a good opportunity to install the pulley and belt but when i went to the auto store the only puller they had was the one below its fairly small and looks like it would have no clearance issues but has anyone used one to remove a MCS pulley before? Also if the noise on the belt keeps coming back could it be more then just the belt?

I've heard Way has the nicest puller for this job: http://www.waymotorworks.com/pulley-puller.html

If you had bought the pulley from him.. He lends it to you for free!

Might be to late for you guys, but someone who reads this just might get the hint in time.

Give Way a call. He is the best, and could probably help you out.

The OEM pulley likes to bend, if it does you have to cut it off. I'd also be afraid of the pictured puller damaging the end of the s/c drive shaft. It looks like it has a point on the end!

No experience with that puller though.

Well if you can go a week without driving your car, try it. If it doesnt work get one from waymotorworks. BUT, i know from experience you do not want to damage the pulley. Last thing you want to do is to have to cut it out.

Don't try to remove the pulley with that generic puller, you will likely damage the supercharger.
If you bought our pulley, give me a call and we'll set you up the rental tool.

my pulley was removed with similar puller, but without central axe. It's necesaary only to pull strong. Of course, is better to use a normal puller, but 3 years ago in Russia there was no one =)
50 kilo miles after this operation - everything is OK

There are two belts in the car, or actually a belt and a chain. This belt drives your actuator, AC and the supercharger.
It has a tensioner and another pulley.

It is most likely that the pulley in the tensioner or the other one (the adjusting pulley) has a faulty ball-bearing. If so, these pulleys don't run/roll as they should so the belt could 'slip' over the pulleys making lot's of noise.

Best to have someone take a look at it
It's not the most expensive of repairs, but you should factor in about $500 to change both the tensioner and the adjusting pulley (and a new belt). Well in the shop that is offcourse!
