Akrapovic systems

I think Akrapovic deserves its own thread for the quality and expertise they stand for.

And here is a video teaser...

I can confirm the opposite...

I have their downpipe and I am planing installing their catback system as well.
Are those carbon-fiber tips awesome or what?

It has the looks but most important, it has the flow of a racing exhaust.

I agree with you that they cost too much.

However...

There is a rule in the market which is very true most of the times.

"The expensive is cheap, but the cheap can be very expensive."

In my opinion this exhaust system is worth the extra money.

From years in moto racing, all of my exhausts have been akrapovic(a-crap-o-vich) . They are one of few companies that use hydroforming methods to bend their pipes which will flow streams of air. Awesome stuff and witnessing how they are made is a gift lol

Forgot to mention, they are rated at +2.4 hp and +5.6 nm torque from stock. With the downpipe, they are +7.6 hp and 7 nm torque.

And the numbers they rate are a little pessimistic.
When I replaced my downpipe (at the same time with a Forge intercooler and boost tube kit) I gained nearly 7 Nm of torque and 15 HP.

And the sound is awesome! Combined with the JCW stage 1 kit's back box I am very pleased with the soundtrack. Barks, cracks, burble, and pure racing sound!

Yes, these are exactly the numbers rated on Akrapovic website.
It is also true that they are rating lower than they perform.
You can definitely FEEL and hear the difference...

I ran an Ackro Titanium full exhaust system on my Hayabusa. The quality is excellent and made more HP and Torque then most. Great Exhaust company. Now if only Arata will make an exhaust system for the mini.....

Nope, no CEL, no limp modes, no Christmas trees...

I have 5000miles now since instalation and no problem whatsoever, just pure racing sound.

Highly recommended in my opinion.

I run the stock exhaust, with the Akrapovic downpipe and JCW kit back box.

And I will definitely add the whole Akrapovic evolution exhaust, not just yet though.

What does just the downpipe cost? Is it a straight bolt on/v-band connection to the JCW exhaust? I have tried to contact Way forever now regarding his downpipe and I never hear back so I assume they aren't being made anymore. Thanks in advance!

EDIT:
Talked to my buddy Doug and it appears that the cost is $670. Not too bad. I think that I'll be ordering one next month. Bolts right up.

You will have to contact Akrapovic to ensure that it fits.
That is what I did when I was doing my research.

As you said, I have a Cooper S and not a JCW, so I do not have personal experience whether it fits the JCW's exhaust.

From my knowledge though, the two exhausts (S's and JCW's) have exactly the same fittings (Europe models).
Gaskets from turbo to downpipe are the same as well as the clamps from the downpipe to the flexim are the same.
So I can not find any good reason why it would not fit.
