JCW R56 brakes on R53, ebrake and lines questions

Hello Everyone:

I just purchased the R56 Brembo BBK for my R53. From the research that I have done the fronts are pretty straight forward with just new R56 brake lines that are needed. The rears are a different story.

I wanted to get the R56 ebrake cables to replace the ones on my R53. My installer says that this is an involved process where the heat shield would have to be dropped and the mounting points being different. How hard or easy is replacing the ebrake cables?

I also do not want to cut the trailing arm to accomodate the brakes lines in the rear. Some have said to go adead and use the banjo style lines. Has anyone done this? Where would I get these banjo lines.

Your help on this is greatly appreciated.

Hey guys:

Here is a picture of what I had in mind to do. A member of another forum gave me this pic of a banjo line fitting that he used on his conversion. What is great about it is that there is no cutting into the trailing arm. Can someone give me a suggestion on where I can get this line and fitting here in the USA?

Try www.valleyhydraulic.com. I suspect that if they don't have it in stock, they can make it for you.

It appears that this is an adaptor that uses the stock fittings on the R56 hose to adapt to a banjo fitting on the R53. Am I correct?

As an alternative, you can likely find someone who can make up a custom set of hoses with the proper fittings. I'd actually lean toward that alternative.

I suspect valley can help.

I'll have these hose kits on the hook shortly to add to the R56 front ones for future needs. It's an offshoot of the R56 kits of sorts.

minsane, I am in the same boat as you. Did you ever find the rear lines you needed, and if so where did you get them?
