Awesome tinted Xenon lights.... need help, or opinion

Has anyone done this? Does anyone know how to do this? I found this picture online and the Xenon lights look tinted from the inside or painted, im not too sure. Let me know if you know how to do this, cause I want that look!

Note sure what you mean...

I know that you can order the light housing in chrome or black when you order from MINI.

I think there are also a few how-to threads on how to dissassemble light housings and paint them black on NAM, but I don't have the time to look for them right now.

If it's not stock then the lights have had the "Joey Mod". My friends Brian & Dana have a '11 Clubman with the projector light housings blacked out and it looks great.
Here is the link for the mod.

Thanks for the input guys, my 11 Cooper S has the black housing, but from the look of this picture, the Xenon lens itself is tinted, in order to let the lit ring show more. Guess ill just have to give it a try. Thanks!

You talking about tinting the lense itself? Lamin-X does headlight protection film in various tints. Here's mine with the mild "tint" color spectrum.

In the OP's pic, it looks like the actual lens over the Xenon bulb is tinted, which actually looks pretty sweet, but is probably a horrrrrrrible idea.

The lens is not tinted, no light is coming from the actual projector meaning the acutal light is not on. None of the parking lights are on either. An led has been introduced to the ring most likely.

I really like the look of that, very cool, I might have to go this route, is it difficult to apply yourself? I have no experience with applying film.

This also looks very sharp, I don't know if you have the "joey" mod but I like how dark this looks.

That makes a lot of sense, thank you, I wonder how difficult it would be to do this led mod, and the functionality of it..... guess i'll have to do a little more research.

DIY for sure, Headlight removed and the ring was probably drilled and led(s) introduced with expoxy. I pondered doing it myself when i painted mine black but had no spare leds. looks great though

Yea, applied my self. Not difficult, just requires patience. This stuff is pretty thick...it's a protection film not just tint.

Picking mine up from the detailer today. Was his idea to tint the lens to give a black out effect. Doing the rears and the back up lights too. Even the reflectors that are on the cornes in red and yellow.

Delayed till next week. They found 2 small dents in the hood while going over the car. Hard to see but with the special lights they show everything. Doing paintless repair on it. Looked like shipping guy put both hands on the hood and weight. No problem fixing it cheap but delayed pick till Monday or Tuesday.

I need a newer picture. I have since toned down the red and yellow reflectors.

You should have been able to order them on your build out. We saw them on a Factory JCW before we ordered them for ours.
