If you are trading it into a dealership, always expect the worse value.

It's funny how they lots of carmakers tout the resale value (not just mini) but when it comes time to trade it in, you rarely get that amount. Private sale is where it's at (obviously).

That is one highly optioned out Mini! I have not seen a new countryman in person but I think you will probably like it.

Yeah, whatever you do "DON'T TRADE IT IN!!!!" I was gonna trade mine in only because of a new addition to the family. Had the car 1 year, paid just over 30k, nicely kept and they tried to offer me 16k for it. I laughed in there face and told them that was a good way to keep customers. Just for that little insult i will be driving to get my next MINI......

You might not be to happy with this assessment...

Like PTRD said a Private Party Sale is always the way to go, unless of course you are looking for a reduction in your new Countryman's Sticker Price!!

I think you could expect around 27k from a private sale. No idea what the dealer will give you.

At a Lexus dealer 3 months ago, I paid about $26k for my 2009 factory JCW that had an original sticker price of about $35k. It also had less than 12,000 miles on it when I bought it.

I traded my 2008 Cooper in for it. Had an original MSRP of $21k, and 30,000 miles on it, and I got about $14k for it on the trade.

To be honest I wouldn't expect more than $19k for your car from a dealer (they'll probably offer you much less initially), maybe 21 or 22 private sale. RJKimbell's KBB quote was for a 2008, seeing that yours is a 2007, it will be less than that. Good luck!

I saw a few Countryman's at the dealer last Tuesday.... stick with the R56!!

Oh sorry, I thought it was a 2008, my mistake.

I've done well trading in with my MINI dealer - and it reduces the sales tax.

It's all down to what works best for you and how much time you are OK with on selling the car. If you're going to order the Countryman, you have time to sell the Clubman on your own while still locking in a trade in price, too. Yes, I have ordered MINIs but my salesman gave me a trade in value and all he did was ask me not to go above a certain number of miles - as in not above 50K. It worked for me a couple of times.

Love my Clubman's look but the Countryman is roomier. However, I just bought a certified 2010 MINI Cooper as I've always loved the little guys.

Each dealer is different...

I traded my '08MCSa in for my '09 JCW.

I paid 28K for the car and a year later with over 28K miles on it, they gave me 23,500 bucks for it.... pretty good price I think.
