Aftermarket Stereo and the MFSW

Hello all,

So, I did some looking, some searching, but 135 pages of posts is alot to cover.

I own a 2005 MCS with the MFSW, and I was wondering, if I install an aftermarket head unit, will the MFSW controls still work? Are there any specific control heads I should be looking for?

I like the ease of use the MFSW provides, and I don't want to lose it, but am extremely unhappy with the sound quality of the factory stereo. Doing the install won't be an issue, as I have installed may a stereo in many a car, but I've never done an install on a car with a MFSW.

Thanks a bunch, and sorry if this question has already been asked and answered.

Wojg.

You'll have to have it shipped from the UK, but they do make adapter kits for the MFSW. You can go with either a universal kit which uses an IR blaster to control the new stereo. But if you get a stereo that a kit can directly interface with, then that's the way to go!

Thanks a ton man. Shipping from the UK shouldn't be too much of an issue as I live in Germany. But i'm gonna keep looking for one that doesn't require a kit.

You could do that ^ or just get a pac-x interface adapter that is pretty much universal between most aftermarket HU's. That's what I did and install was a snap.

Any questions just PM me.
