Help! Heat stops blowing hot at idle!

Whenever I come to a stop the heat in the car stops blowing hot. As in, not just less heat but no heat. The fan keeps working as normal.

2007 R56 mini
manual climate control
automatic tranny

Any suggestions as to what this might be? Never heard of anything like it!

Without checking anything out, my first guess is you are low on antifreeze.

My Clubman does that somewhat but only noticeable when I hold my hand next to a vent. The temp goes down but not totally cold. I believe it only for a few minutes until the engine fully warms up but haven't payed close attention to that.
How cold is it where you are? Here in So OR. mid 30's or so in the mornings right now so it may be worse in colder climates?

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.

Glad you got it fixed.

Common leakage points are the waterpump. My 07 MC just had to have one replaced. I walked out to the car at work one day and there was a puddle of coolant under the car and the overflow tank was empty.

Keep an eye on it.

Now this has me wondering too. I'm going to go out and check my coolant level. My '08 MCS never seems to really blow _HOT_ air and takes almost 5-10 miles before lukewarm air comes and goes. I was thinking maybe its the thermostat, but now I need to check the coolant. With any normal temp gauge I have no idea what temps this bugger is running at! And... the lukewarm cycles it seems between lukewarm and warm but never hot even when climate control is set to 82˚.
