R50/53 vgs + boost guage (yes I searched :-)
vgs + boost guage (yes I searched :-)
I recently installed an auto-meter boost gauge. It works great, I wired it to the lights...glows orange, dims..looks totally factory. I saw the diy here and followed it to a "T" (whatever that means haha) Anywho...I backed up the little set screw for that bypass valve thingy. It now closes all the way. Now my question is...I blocked off the vacuum hose(about 4 " long) going to the bypass valve. I then used a T to go off of the hose going to the fuel pressure reg. Thats also the line I use for the boost gauge. As soon as I re-route the line, boost seems to start earlier, but the gauge wont read more than 2-3 psi, which leads me to believe I am taking all the pressure that was once moving the needle and sending it all at the bypass valve. but the car is definitely faster(or at least as fast, meaning it's not just running 2-3 pounds but the full 10 that is always does) My question is, did I "T" off the wrong hose for the VGS? is there another further away I was supposed to use? I saw a hard line that runs along the left side of the motor. Thanks in advance for your help!!
