Drivetrain Reliable Horsepower?
Reliable Horsepower?
Hi everyone,
I have a MCS with 77,000 miles. I drive about 15,000 to 20,000 a year and I would like to add some reliable horsepower to my car. My current mods include a CAI, coil pack and plug wires, NGK plugs, and a Magnaflow Catback exhaust.
I am thinking about a 15% supercharger pulley, RMW tune, Sprint booster, and possibly JCW injectors if I need them.
I would really appreciate any advice from my Mini brothers!

Sounds like a good plan but skip the Sprint Booster if you get the tune. The tune can be done to give the same response as the SB.
The JCW injectors are a nice addition to the 15% pulley. The injectors should be added just prior to the tune. Without the tune they won't do much but if they are installed just prior to the tune Jan can use the capacity to improve the tune.
Have fun.

I would consider getting the 450 injectors. They can be scalled by Jan to your needs now, but if you ever add a head, they can be retuned for next to nothing.
They are the same price IIRC. No sprint booster needed with a tune.

I regards to getting a tune from Jan at RMW. I went to his website and noticed that he sells a tune and the device to upload it. Is this a one size fits all tune or does he give you a tune based on what mods you have on your car?
You can get an upgrade tune or get a dyno tune with online communication.
Also Wayland can do remote tunes (Way Motor Works).
If you want a remote tune call Wayland and he can give you all of the options.

I have two MCS's that Jan has tuned. I also have quite a few mods on one and just a couple on the other. I got the Sprint Booster for both of them and THAT is the biggest improvement of them all. Anyone who tells you that a Sprint Booster doesn't have much impact has either never had one or their butt is numb. Both my cars had a dramatic improvement and every once in awhile I'll switch them off and drive the cars without. When I do it's like someone put an anchor on the car upon acceleration.
Remember, the sprintbooster does not add hp. It just improves throttle response electronically....
If you are going to get a tune, you may find you don't need it...most tuneers adjust this parameter a bit...not as much as the SB, but still better than stock, and the adjustment to the traction control/dsc is well worth it!!
