MINI/Mini Parts Swap Meet - Sat Dec 11

On Sat. Dec 11, 2010, Import Auto Technicians of Col Spgs will host our first (and hopefully annual) MINI/Mini Parts Swap Meet. For those not familiar with such events, the idea is to bring in and display your parts, accessories, memorabilia, etc. that you no longer need, and trade them with someone else who has what you need/want. You can also right out sell or buy, without trading (or, sell your part to Person A, and use the proceeds to buy something from Person B).

It gives you a chance to clear up your garage, make some dough, and hopefully find some bargains.

The event will start at 9:00 and end at 2:00, regardless of the weather conditions, since this will be an indoor event. You don’t even have to drive your MINI/Mini to the event; just load the parts in your less-desirable vehicle.

Because Import Auto will be having coffee and pastries in the morning and catered lunch, we would like to have at least 9 participants to make the event worthwhile; therefore, please RSVP via this thread by 12/04/2010. A flyer is posted on the Calendar page as well, with more info. See it here:

I'll bring some stuff.

Do you want us to list items here?

You could also keep it kind of stealthy,

maybe more people will show up to search for bargains!

As of this morning, only 5 have signed up, including the sponsor. The prospects don't look great for having this event on the 11th.

We'll take a reading on Monday 12/6 and decide what to do.

The Dec Newsletter is going out shortly and RUDEBOX who is publishing it will extend the cuto-off for RSVP to Monday 12/6. Hopefully, we'll get some more people. Don't change your plans yet.

I'm thinking I need mud-flaps for my 2006 S convertible due to my dirt road. Has anyone had experience w/putting them on your Mini? Does it help keep the back end of car clean and dirty slush off the sides? I haven't found any that specifically say they'll fit the convertible (2006) but don't see why the bottom of the car would be different from a non-convertible. Are they?

I've got them on the front and they were really easy to install and have helped keep the area behind the door and in front of the back wheels clean and chip-free. I don't think the back ones would keep the boot from getting dirty but perhaps a little. I think the back version replaces a trim piece but I still doubt it would take much to install.

Sorry to say, due to insufficient particiaption, this event has been cancelled.

We needed a minimum of 12 people, and only 6, including the sponsor, have signed up.

We'll try agian in March.

Crap. Nice try Bahman, might be more interest after the New Year. Folks may have more to unload after all the MINI "presents" they get (or buy for themselves in my case)!!

Cancelled? Ack! I think this is a great idea. Please keep it on the front of the stove.

I've got a bunch of stuff to lighten myself of :-)
