Cutting your own bonnet/boot stripes

I was about to pull the trigger on a stripe combo when I was told by a friend that he has a vinyl cutter and can cut one for me. This is the stripe I was going to buy, with the center being white and the pin stripes in pink:

My friend seems fairly confident that he can do it. I know that car vinyl is different than other vinyl which is something I'll need to check with him on. Other then that, is there anything I need to know? Does the stripe have any curve to it, or is it straight all the way across the hood. On the boot, how many different pieces is a center stripe? I don't want to go down the bumpers, just scoop back and top of boot to bottom.

Then for install, are there do-it-yourself guides somewhere to help me out?

Thanks

Use cast vinyl, not calendared. The thinner the mil the better as it's easier to stretch. Take your time, use water with a drop of dish soap (no more or you'll just make a mess) in a sprayer to release surface tension. Spray sticky side of material and the hood, slide into place exactly where you want it and squeegee it down.

Here's a basic idea on how to install. You can probably find videos on YouTube.
