Dumb question on service engine light
i have 2003 mini cooper s, and i recently noticed that "service engine soon" light comes when i turn on the key. but when i start the ignition, it goes off in about 1~2 sec. i'm not sure it should not come at all or this is normal. should i visit a mechanic?
thanks

That's normal. It should tell you the mileage needed before your next oil change is due per the OBC somewhere in the gauges too. I have the chrono package so it is on the speedometer...not sure where that info is for others.

had the same exact question my 05s that I posted a few weeks back. it's normal, I also looked up a YouTube video of a mini starting up and the service engine soon light stayed lit up for a few sec. no big
