How long did your S last on your DWS?

I've been leaning really hard to the Continental ExtremeContact DWS, but something I can't help but notice in the description is that the S layer then the W layers will wear out. And I assume this occurs before the treadlife is over, so I was wondering if anyone has wore out the S layer on their DWS and at appropriately what mileage. Or even better would be if someone just happen to know at what tread depth (n/32") that occurs.

To be honest if this tire loses those S and W layers too early, I will probably just get the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. I just hate paying such a premium for them.

I have them on my 2008 Cooper S Clubman. I have over 27K on the tires and they still have the "S" in the tread. They are wearing very well.

I should add that they did very well in the snow last year. I have put about 20K on them since the last snow so it should be interesting to see how they do this winter. I recommend the tire though. I really like them.

My tire shop that put them has a machine to compare wear on several points of the tire throughout their life. I've only had them for 5k but not wear has really been detected so far. Yes, there is some but it barely even shows up. So far a great riding and wearing tire.

Only negative is they have picked up a very slight amount of noise on concrete pavement. On asphalt they are still perfectly quiet.
