I was curious about going to the 3 Spoke MFSW

Is it beefier than the 2-spoke? I assume I get more functions but unless I have nav, bluetooth that's totally irrelevant and if I go with an aftermarket head unit, then MFSW becomes completely irrelevant

It's beefier only if you get a JCW steering wheel, which is available only in 3-spoke version. The 3-spoke doesn't have a radio Mode button, so functionality actually went down. Otherwise it's a matter of styling preference and some people have felt strongly enough about it to switch one way or the other.

BTW, it is possible to integrate the MFSW with some aftermarket headunits.

what kind of head unit did you drop in there?

how did you convert the factory harness to your aftermarket harness? adapter?

did the steering wheel controls just work off the bat or did you have to use a pac swi?

Look here: http://web.mac.com/jonnieoh/My_MINI_...el_How-To.html
The writeup is for a JCW steering wheel, but the procedure is exactly the same for standard 3 spoke.

I dumped the two spoker MFSW for a JCW three spoke...the thicker wheel has a much better feel / grip. But never bothered with the MFSW controls.......

Speed control and stero functions are for Lincoln Continentals....

the 3 spoke is also a smaller diameter than the 2 spoke. I loved making the switch.

Do you have the 'thumb bump' 2 spoke? IMO they feel much better than the standard 2 spoke.

I went from the 2 to 3 spoke standard wheel. I noticed the 3 spoke to be a tiny bit smaller in diameter. I installed the MFSW controls and it was all plug and play. It's a straight forward easy mod that makes the interior look a bit more up to date.

I'm thinking about buying the jcw wheel too. Where did you buy yours from?
