Tall mini owners please chime in

Hey everyone this is my first post. I am seriously considering a mini. I have always loved these cars and have been thinking about getting one. There may be one problem. Im 6'5" and not sure if i would be comfortable in a mini. I have driven one before and loved it. I just would like to hear from some long time owners that are tall. Thanks Brandon

Hi Branman:
I am 6'2" and do not have the seat all the way back but i do have it all the way to the floor.. I have plenty of leg and head room.. I have had my feet get in trouble with the peddles on ocassion. It is a 5 speed. You might be better off with a automatic. Not the CV. They are having troubles with those transmissions across all auto makers. I have a "05 Cabrio. I love it. It is near mint. The grill and headlight rings are pitted from ?.

I'm 6'3" (short by your standards) and find plenty of room. The seat mechanism allows one to adjust height. Mine is at the lowest setting and there is more headroom than needed. If I move the seat all the back I can hardly reach the pedals, so I have it a notch or 2 forward.

You should hear from drivers taller than me. Unfortunately this doesn't leave adequate legroom for a passenger behind me.

Take another test drive and I believe you will find all of the room that you need.

Several NBA players drive MINI's, assume you can to.

I am rather large, 6'-6" and 380 or so and fit just fine. I have the seat all of the way down and back as I have never had a passenger behind me in the 3 previous trucks I owned, so it is nothing new to not have a immediate rear passenger. I do find my head is close to the support between the front and rear sunroof but it does not hit. I also have a oretty long torso and average legs for my height so that also puts my head higher than the average guy. I do notice being first at some traffic lights mean stooping or looking through the sunroof. This can be fixed with a $18 light-n-sight but I am waiting on one from Santa this winter .

I Would Think You Will Be Fine. Im 6'1, 260lbs And If I Put The Seat All The Way Back, I Have Trouble Fully Disengaging The Clutch. I Want To Say That Minis Were Designed For Drivers Up To 6'9.

Thanks so much everyone. Im def more confident now. I know if I test drove one I would be so excited about it I might look past a small detail like that. Well the hunt starts. Im going to get a used one with low miles. I think I want to go with a JCW mini.

My oldest son is 6'4" with size 15 feet. He has driven my 2006 MCS 6 speed with no problems (other than convincing me to let him actually drive the car, one time )

You should not have an issue with the driving position. Just don't plan on backseat passengers.

Honestly and I mean I am being as truthful as I can be, I am 6'5" as well and had this same thought before I went and checked them out. Now cars that I thought I was comfortable in before make me claustrophobic. The MINI is so surprisingly roomy, and I constantly get the "OMG how do you fit in that little thing!?" But I am the most comfortable in the MINI than I have been in any other car I have owned. My seat is one notch from the back and it gives me so much leg room to work the peddles.

So in all honesty I am more concerned with what comes next, after I am done with the MINI will I find a car that I will still be comfortable in? Who knows :(

You'll have no problem. I'm 6'8" and 330 and am very comfortable. I fit better in the MINI than I did in my last car, a 1990 Nissan Maxima.
Enjoy!

Jim
